hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I think Susan Seaforth Hayes was bad in Friday's episode (where she learned that Doug died). Am I the only one who found her oveer-the-top and hammy and pretty awful?

Well that is Susan's acting style-very 'soap opera'

It was nice to see Liz but it was kind of odd that she would return-the connection to Doug was pretty tenuous. Also specifying 1986 as her last year in Salem was unnecessary-they need to keep away from specific dates. She hasn't been in touch with Marlena since then? Why not say that they had reconnected from time to time?

Liz's return would have worked better for the 50th.

As for Steve climbing in the window? No thanks. And spending all that time on him being untrustworthy/reformed. Just say that Doug and Julie in their many times away from Salem had seen Steve and that had all been worked through. It seemed unnecessary -Steve should have just been there for Julie.

Same with the whole Liz/Marie rivalry. Really, women in their 70's and 80's still holding grudges. And Maree Cheatham having to talk about stuff she never acted. They couldn't even use flashbacks to bolster the story.

So that was kinda a miss for me.

-- That is true. I still didn't like it at all. Those scenes should have drawn tears (at least for me -- I cry easily), but I felt nothing.

-- I have to agree with everything else you pointed out. Liz hasn't connected with Marlena for 38 years? Steve would really climb through that window? Liz in her late 70s and Marie in her mid-80s would still act like teenage girls? Pretty ridiculous.

Today's episode didn't record for some reason. Damn it!

Huh? Aren't you watching on Peacock?

Why are Stephen, Lucas, and Shawn all wearing suits? Do all people get dressed up in their finery to drive to Salem for a funeral?

What can I say that hasn't been said. Today was lovely, calm, dignified, not at all like Salem is today. I thought Marie's bitterness was a bit much. Stephen climbing in the window I thought was kinda silly. I loved all of the real flashbacks. No comment about the newly created ones. I was surprised to see the Doug III actor playing being in prison as Brent Douglas. That first flashback is so old. Can't wait to watch it again.

I didn't take it as him playing Brent Douglas. I took it as something happening to Doug Williams III. The fact that he was in prison, had a cell mate name Bill and was heading to Salem upon his release just a coincidence. They were trying to tie him into his grandfather.

I love the nice touch of giving Liz more children off camera. I wonder did she reunite with Neil or meet a new man.

I think that was a nod to Gloria's real life as she had two sons.

I'm Canadian, so have my TV record the episode from the Canadian station it airs on, but it didn't today for some stupid reason.

That is what I thought when I watched it as well. Then all of the comments made me question whether I was wrong.

There were a couple of things that seemed unnecessary today, like Liz and Marie being so campy and clownish, and the time capsule necklace disappearing already. That could have waited until tomorrow or a later episode. And also, who has a funeral service, outside in December? 😂

I wish they’d use the St. Luke’s set again. Not the chapel, the real one.

But overall, today was another winner. And the biggest tearjerker of them all.

Idk what it is about Susan/Julie saying, “He took me to paradise with every kiss” but it made me tear up while watching Bill’s service earlier this year and it made me tear up again during Doug’s. You really got admire the strength and courage of Susan Seaforth Hayes. Say what you will about her being over the top, which I admit she can be sometimes lol, but she’s a consummate professional who gives it her all every time.

And I also teared up and sang along when Liz and everybody sang “Always.” I wish that song was featured more on Days and used in scenes for Horton couples like Shawn/Belle, Chad/Abigail, Will/Sonny, etc. Is it that expensive to use? It’s almost 100 years old.

I appreciated the fact that today didn’t have as much background music in it as episodes usually do. Sometimes you just don’t need it, especially when you’re dealing with the death of a major character.

I also really enjoyed the scenes between Steve and Julie. Both actors work really well together and I hope they somehow managed to bring him back from time to time.

And maybe I’m reading too much into this, but does anybody else think that the fact that Ciara hasn’t mentioned Ben at all in these last two episodes might be telling us something?

Uggghhh… should’ve known.

Two 80 year old women acting like clowns isn’t funny.

But at least today’s episode was a lot better than most of the garbage that he writes.

Really? I've seen numerous people mention having another actor play Doug in prison. Saying whether it bothered them or not. However, if you are correct, I think that is lame.

I've seen several ex-fans who are watching now. Also one fan whose been on a break & about to start watching again. I wonder if Peacock will get a bump up in subs from this. I hope so.

Is today (11/3) the final episode for Marie and Steve?  I'd love to see them hang around for a few days and interact with more characters.

For me, it was the idea that Alice had a diamond necklace that she buried in her wall. Everyone knows Alice only wore pearls, and Tom would have insisted that she at least store it in a safety deposit box at the bank.  I could buy Addie having a diamond necklace, but not Alice.  It is simply too irresponsible that she never told anyone where the necklace was located.  One would think she would have at least had second thoughts after the whole puzzle box debacle.

As for the church, I assume we are meant to believe that it was never re-built after Eve bombed it at Ciara and Ben's wedding.  But, I agree, invisible roof or not, these folks have to move inside, they're not getting any younger.  The small venue was noticable given the odd blocking for the scene.  Poor Liz had to sit in back, just so she could get an aisle seat.  And tons of folks who live in Salem (besides Chad) were noticably missing from the ceremony.

Also @ranger1rg I don't think it is that odd that Shawn, Steve, and Lucas arrived in their suits.  I would conjecture that they only planned to be in Salem for one day and they didn't want to pack a suitcase, or find a place to change.  I don't know why Ciara chose to wear a mini cocktail dress, but I also suppose that she can't keep a large wardrobe on a boat with two kids.

For all of you who have joined me in spirit through the days of Billy’s passing and Doug’s memorial on Days of Our Lives, I thank you ❤️

It was a privilege to share my joy in his life with so many via television. Our Corday Family honored us with a particular love story that began 54 years ago in front of a television camera and ended there, too. How amazing!

My darling was a steadfast, inspiring father to five children. He helped build a hospital in Africa, starred on Broadway for Rodgers and Hammerstein, conducted choirs… and I could never tell you the half of it.

He held me up with love so true. That’s all that keeps me or Julie standing now… recalling those glorious yesterdays and looking forward to more tomorrows.
