Wow, JG has this week also pretty much blown up and upended everything he’s written the past couple years with this most recent implosion of the Abbott family. It’s actually semi-interesting…but also overkill like Sharon’s story is.

Not really sure what the end game of Victor’s revenge is though.

Someone want to do a wellness check on Griffith? 🤣 This dark drama overload is typically sign all is not well in her own personal life. 😂

And my poor Sally getting shipped into Billy’s orbit. She doesn’t deserve this!!!

dropping the GCAC for Grand Pheonix.

Well, the GCAC was falling apart. Maura West remarked how bad the set was when she was on the cast, and was exiting.

Next up a revamp of Crimson Lights please!

Crimson Lights has been revamped over the years. Not as much as this, but it's gotten changed over the years. We don't need a revamp of it.

Jack brought to his knees. ;)

All because he tried to help Nikki.

-- I really like the newly-built Newman ranch. I just hope that more set improvements -- and more sets daily -- come along with it. If the GCAC has to be put away every time the Newman ranch is shown, I won't be happy. The show still lacks horribly in workplaces and charcters' homes.

-- I like the Crimson Lights set as is. It was nicely updated a few years ago, and I think those tchotkes mentioned give it character and history.

-- Can someone explain to me the reason for Jack and Diane to let everyone in town believe their marriage is blowing up? I can see trying to fool Kyle, but I just don't get what this is supposed to accomplish.

-- The detective work done by Chance on Heather's murder has to be the worst in TV history.

Won't happen until an over-night crew is re-hired. Hence why sets were static to pretty much community lots for the majority of the time until around the end of 2022 / top of 2023.

This is incredible. I cannot believe they did it. I’m fine with long time sets being updated as long as they are recognizable.

The GCAC set was new in comparison to the Newman Ranch and I don't believe it would be in such a state. When it returned it looked identical which suggest to me that it was in storage and had been discontinued b/c it was a large set.

They put in a new counter. It does need a revamp IMO. It was set up over 20 years ago as a place for the youngsters of GC to hang out and the whimsical quirky decor reflected that.

Now it's an all purpose hangout and the decor looks dated and unsuitable. I'd get rid of the jukebox, robot and the creepy face on the wall, add some new furniture, reupholster the banquettes etc

IRL most businesses would have an update in that time unless it was a more traditional set up like GCAC.

That is very cool. I am almost tempted to watch the episode when it debuts.
On another note, that joke that Melody told about Eric carrying her up the stairs again and Eric’s reaction made me wonder why, in the last times I have watched Y&R they don’t give Nikki and Victor a sense of humor, at least in how they relate to each other. The last time I watched, Victor was constantly ‘babying’ Nikki, almost like she was a child or a porcelain doll but the way Eric and MTS banter with each other IRL is more entertaining to me. One of the things I miss about when I used to watch ATWT was how quirky and funny they would make characters like Lucinda Walsh and John Dixon and Lisa. Even Bob Hughes would give a “Grouch Marx” laugh and a Dad joke, every now and then.

Because, humour isn't drama. We know Griffith has zero humour. I don't think Y&R ever did banter/humour in the way the ATWT was able to do, or even Santa Barbara.

Humour and drama work together. That’s why the theatre mask has both the comedy and the drama. Even Shakespeare’s tragedy had humorous bits. You really need both.
The definition of drama is not the absence of humour, the definition of drama is conflict…which tbh, JG doesn’t know how to do proficiently either.

And I don't debate that. They do work together, but I also don't see that as something this soap has always excelled in. On top of that, I don't see them providing that to the soap's longest-standing super couple that is currently together on the canvas. Deviating from that will "upset" what they likely view as the "core audience".

Griffith just needs to do. There is nothing compelling or even smart-lite in his nor Amanda L. Beall's writing and when a script is marginally smart-lite, I'd wager it is Beall's influence, not Griffith.

So I sat down to watch the Giggly Heffa episode. I felt the JM and SC episodes were better, but we all know I'm bias. For me, I was actually shocked that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

It was just so...schizo like her. Old age has definitely made that Giggly Heffa deluded. That said...I did like she was surrounded by her family. While MS is not at all my favorite, I feel she has been playing a mother on the verge really well this past week and look hot AF.

The highlight for me though...besides how awesome MS looks with her pixie cut and seeing a young Josh Morrow...was Jack and Phyllis. That early chemistry was on FIRE and how seductive she was...you could see it all over Jack's face. I miss seeing that often in soaps so I was loving all of those segments.

I do miss MS playing subtle though. And I will always side-eye her talking about Sharon being crazy when BOOM there's the 2012 flashback of her derailing a Nick/Sharon reunion by destroying a hotel room. GIRL, BYE.
