Oh I am not saying it isn't stupid.  It definitely gives vibes of a 90's JER contrivance where a character sees something, asks zero questions, and runs off and does something idiotic.   I just don't know where they are going with this.  Johnny's going to yell at Chanel and she'll be furious that he didn't trust her?  Then Chanel will sleep with Alex for real?  When the show just put effort in to re-starting Stephanie/Alex?  It just doesn't make sense to me.  None of this is very coherently soapy.  Just a serious of events happening with little motivation

Why does this have me close to tearing up? (Cause I'm part water sign)

One of the best things of the last decade or so has been her heightened presence. It'll be bittersweet to watch her and all the returnees for Doug's memorial, but hopefully this means she'll continue to a constant for the next regime, too.

I’ve been a strong Julie fan even in the times people have disliked her and that’s down to SSH never phoning it in. She’s the perfect Horton matriarch now if only they could bring back some Hortons. I do love her relationship with Chad though.

I liked the way Eric was used today. He’s one of the few things that’s actually saving the Sarah paralysis storyline, because Sarah lying, and just Kristen in general have really messed it up. And the fact that Sarah recanted her statement today shows how stupid it was for her to lie.

Jamey’s crap being corrected by a real writer

I hope Eric continues to investigate though. And hopefully, Holly’s part in this storyline continues as well, even though I’m also glad that she’s going to Paris to visit Nicole.

And I’m still liking the way that EJ/Gabi/Stefan is being built up, even though I don’t agree with EJ being written as so campy and bitchy. He should be playing it a lot more villainously, rather than treating it like a big joke.

BB isn't exactly my type, but I think he's a good looking man.  The styling for Stefan isn't great though, but that extends to at least 80% of the Days cast lol.

I agree with @AbcNbc247 that Eric is being used well.  Even though this part of the story was for John it works almost seamlessly with Eric too.  One of the things I have always liked about the show is that Eric and Brady truly consider themselves brothers (I believe Sami considers Brady her brother as well).  I love the blend of Roman/John/Marlena's family working together.  It helps give Days a grounded family feeling especially when we have to watch Body & Soul crap two or three days a week.

Yes.  Even with my strong dislike of Martha Madison's Belle, I think the show has always done really well casting their children.  Everyone from Carrie down to Paul interact naturally with one another and seem like family.   I have to give Days that.

It is nuts how inconsistent the quality of episodes has become.

Do I wish that they had played out the drama of Sarah adapting to her paralysis for a bit longer than two weeks?  Yes.  But that interaction between Fiona and Sarah was so lovely, natural, and well played, that it was worth it.  I am surprised by how much I am taken by Fiona.  Her arc has been so quick, but she's charming, and I can see the change that she has gone through in getting to know Sarah.

I also really liked the spark between Kristen and Fiona. Classic daytime clash of the titans (excuse the pun). Considering that Susan and Fiona have sons the same age, I wonder if they are supposed to be the same age too?

Also, cheers to nu-Gabi.  I don't like the hair, makeup, or wardrobe, but I enjoyed the goodbye scene with Stefan.  It is an odd conflict that they both want to move on, but feel like they can't forgive each other.  Especially, given that Gabi was in love with Jake while Stefan was presumed dead, but he moved past that.  And Stefan professed that Chloe was his one true love when he came back from the dead.  But, at least it isn't some ridiculous business decision that is tearing them apart.

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
