Today, the world lost a great man, Salem lost its greatest hero, and I lost one of my favorite scene partners. With a heart full of baseball, Drake was the embodiment of team spirit and mentored so many of us at #Days like a true team Captain. He was also a cheerleader. One of my favorite memories of Drake was from not too long ago. He knew I was super nervous as I was preparing to deliver a five page deathbed monologue, and after we finished the scene (both soaked in tears and snot), he gave me a huge hug and whispered, “Kid, it was like that moment when you hear the crack of the bat against a long ball that flies into the stands and the crowd goes wild.”
I always knew if I was working with him that I would need to spend a little extra time on my scene prep. He was always off book and word perfect, and in 20 years I don’t think I ever remember him holding a script. More than that, he was always ready to play. He loved diving into our father/daughter dynamics, and there was no place I could go in a scene where he wasn’t exactly right there with me.
Drake was full of enthusiasm and humor and aways told the most amazing stories. He loved being an actor and always showed grace and gratitude when it came to his work and his fans. He loved his family deeply and was over the moon to be a Grandfather. I’m sending my deepest sympathies to his family and to all of the cast, crew and fans who have loved him for decades. #RIP ❤️🕊️ @drakehogestyn

"a five page deathbed monologue" that was filmed "not too long ago".....wait.....is John going to be killed off while Drake was alive to film those scenes?

I'm disgusted someone leaked that he was sick before his family did. I hope they're ashamed, they know who they are 😡

Rest well Drake 😭

This! And knowing that they post here.

Through the years, there have been so many stories told by new and returning Days actors, that Drake welcomed them with genuine warmth, kindness, enthusiasm, and mentorship.

Wait what???? That would be truly sad but also kinda convenient, maybe Drake's Illness Was already on a non-treatable phase and they decided to wrap things up so John has a proper send-off???

hmmm when I read Martha's post, I didn't catch the "not too long ago"
I had thought she was referring to recent years?

I had assumed Martha was referring to when Marlena was in a coma and Belle had to do the legal thing with the DNR, and Belle and John argued? Marlena almost died then but revived.

Or even more recently with the poisoning thing when Marlena, Kayla, and Kate supposedly died and went to heaven but were actually comatose in Megan Hathaway's lab...
remember when they thought Marlena was dying from the poison then -- that John and Marlena went on the rooftop to watch the slideshow.
Was there a Belle scene that week?

It will be interesting to see if Drake had the chance to say goodbye to the audience. Alex Trebek died of pancreatic cancer almost 4 years ago and didn't get to film a final goodbye.

A true class, Mr. Logan! Miss his journalistic views on daytime so much, especially in times like now. What a beautiful tribute.

Won't ever happen, unfortunately.

Which could also be spoilers. I know this is real life and reel life colliding, but just reading that made me sick to my stomach on behalf of the cast/crew and viewers already in shock about Drake.

Speculation is fine and natural, it’s happening everywhere. But I don’t want this thread honoring him to become all about a poster parsing out “tidbits” as tea.

And it won't be. Not on this day. We can honor him with at least that much, especially on his birthday. The clout chase has been suspended, albeit temporarily. IYKYK.
