GH: Fan Fave Fired. Actress Blindsided

On Twi/X Kelly's Mom & a good portion of her fans are really being atrocious. I don't know any other way to say it. I'm sure there are fans of KeMo's who are not being ugly but so many are. It's a crying shame. They do not help themselves in this way.

Drastic change of subject:

I know nothing about this Twi/X poster but here's their post. It may be of interest. Also could be nonsense.

You are right, she has been posting in support or calling out unsubstantiated rumors. She is not responsible for what others post that were nasty simply because she retweeted positive posts from those people. I haven’t been able to find Billy Miller’s mom’s exact words, but what has been shared is not great.

The attacks on other actors have been very nasty to see and the time would be better spent advocating for Kelly as opposed to spewing such venom. The exit has gotten pretty decent coverage they should be taking advantage of that.

Frank has a history of pettiness when contract negotiations go awry (Steve Burton, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Hillary B Smith, etc) so I could see killing Sam off being both a way to show the cast they need to fall in line with the budget cuts and finally rid the show of whatever headaches KeMo and her fanbase have given them.

I just think killing Sam off is too harsh an exit and if you’re gonna do it at least let it be in a blaze of glory. The rumors going around sound so lackluster. Also if it is a budget issue why not do a big stunt and kill a few more people, this all just feels so personal in a very icky way.

No LW just does smug and smirking, that's not much far from looking bored

ALL actors should be asked to take pay cuts, but clearly it's only Frank's pets who are exempt and it's clear that the money for JJ is coming from this firing and others that are rumored to be happening

Errol says some of it's personal and y'all wonder why fans think it's in favor of other actors etc...

Anyone who knows me knows I have been supportive of Frank Valentini at General Hospital and defend him, but, I am officially here to say: remove him, IMMEDIATELY! Nathan Varni, do your job and do whatever it is you need to do to get him OUT, and if you're involved then you can go, TOO!

Shelley Curtis, darling, where are you? Time to come home!

@dragonfliesHow you took that tweet as confirmation of Kelly’s firing having anything to do with paying JJ or anyone else's salary is beyond me. His return negotiations began months ago and there was already another actor dumped that likely provided salary cap space to bring Jackson back (Michael Easton).

The “I hate this character so now I have to make conspiracy theories about the actor and rage hate them too” type fans are odd ducks man.

Varni needs to be canned too, he's just as bad.

Where did I say it was "Confirmation" I said it makes sense that people could see it that way.

Yeah people are so making up "conspiracy theories" Funny how that's some "go to" response when they have literally nothing else. You sound ridiculous

I mean not unlike the replies here saying KeMo was problematic behind the scenes etc, with literally no proof showing any of that

people are ANGRY and have the right to be. I'm not even a KeMo or Sam fan and I'm pissed too. They're doing her dirty

I believe Errol is trustworthy so some of what is going on may be personal but without more details won’t venture a guess. When some people not here act like this has never happened before I do shake my head. That said if this is a situation where we lose 20 to 30% of the cast between now and the premiere of the Gates and Kelly is just the first, I can understand the reaction more. Typically GH only gets rid of one major and then minor people unlike some other casting culls of the past on shows that no longer exist.

There has been talk about issues with Kelly for literal years, lol. And she's been phoning a great deal of her performances in since the early 2010s, and that's a conservative estimate.

I suppose if I lived on soap twitter and only formed my opinions on GH based on how random people on the Internet felt I might be more invested, but I'm not. I don't particularly care that they fired Kelly because Sam has been dead weight for over a decade and the character is played out and has no story left. I think Sam's worked sometimes in recent years, but not enough that I would keep her.

Does being fine with Sam gone mean I am fine with FV running GH? Of course not, and it is not an either/or. This isn't stan wars and I'm not 15 years old, I don't have to pretend to take one side or the other. If Kelly wants to battle it out in the press and try to topple Frank that's just fine with me. He needs to go for other reasons. But cutting Kelly Monaco, that I don't care about.

The first part is subjective, we can all watch and have our options about what the actors are doing.

But the second part is the issue- we do not know what happened with any of these people! It is not clear that her money was reallocated for JJ’s return. It’s not clear that everyone was asked to take cuts, or that people didn’t have to. Burton already took a cut to come back. Perhaps Finola did already as well. Or maybe she was asked and did so. People that think this way also attack the actors like they have any real power anymore. Those days are way over.

I do absolutely think there is an issue between Monaco and FV. She has barely been used in years.

Direct your ire to tptb for firing her the way they did, and for the power struggle that has left the show in story shambles it is barely crawling out of.

    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
    • There’s absolutely nothing exciting happening storyline wise but I’m always happy to see the vets on my screen so I’ll take what I can get. It’s also just nice to see them all dressed up in the same room, it always gives classic Y&R vibes. The best part? No Phyllis.

    • Well now we had Ashley's reaction-and weren't we all gasping when she appeared to hate it-but she was just joking!! She loved it. Now we have to see Abby's reaction, and maybe Mamie could come back to say she loves it. How about Jill via Zoom giving her opinion (she'll love it) and bring in a day player to play Mrs Martinez to say she loves it also... I feel bad to keep dumping on this show (not really) but when the choices they make are so inane, it's the only entertainment value the show has. Let's unpack the Nikki birthday story. So Claire wants to throw her Nana a birthday bash as away of endearing Kyle to Victor. Don't quite get the logic there, but OK. She hires a party planner who makes ridiculous suggestions. Slightly annoyed that Y&R are hiring someone for this role for 5 episodes when we never see doctors, co- workers etc. But OK to that to. With all the talk we are expecting something special. What we get is the Jazz Lounge hideously decorated with some ugly tablecloths and a few tacky decorations. They needed a planner for this? Then the guest list consists of family members (no grandchildren)and a few others. Hardly a party. As usual the costuming is pretty awful. A red and black theme ? And our guest of honor is sporting a do that looks like a cross between Cameron Diaz in Something about Mary and Marie from Roxette. They should have had an intimate dinner and ditched all the fanfare. Would have been way more believable.
