She brought Michael E. Knight to Y&R to play the shady doctor Simon Neville.

I excluded Knight because he never worked on General Hospital with Phelps, so to me, that didn't feel the same. Plus, I including the exodus of Hollywood Heights cast-offs she brought with her. We could also mention Jensen Buchanan, too.

Yes, Monty took 3 people from BRIGHT PROMISE to go to GH. Third person Gail Brown? Susan Baldwyn? Might have to look that up.

And, also, yes, about Tom Donovan, Lesley Charleson & LIAMST, all that, yes, too. Also, though I think there was something about the head of ABC Daytime & Lesley Charleson. Again, might have to look that one up. I believe, though, that LC's star was shining particularly brightly about then.

Do you mean Susan Brown that played Gail? She arrived before Monty, under Donovan.

Yes, that is who I meant. I am pretty sure I read it with Monty. If so, here's another for the ERRORS thread. Not surprised. Nor even dismayed.

Yes, it's well documented.

According to Schemering it was Fred Silverman who hired Leslie Charleson to be the Monica recast. So, not Donovan. At the same time he was taking the show from 45 minutes to an hour. Also at the same time Jackie Smith, then ABC Daytime Head, asked Agnes Nixon who should she hire to write both for a group of adults as well as a bunch of teens. (Marland) It was Nixon, also, who recommended Gloria Monty as the new EP.

I would challenge that Agnes Nixon was responsible for the hiring of Gloria Monty.

Fred Silverman had been head of daytime at CBS in the 60's when Gloria directed Secret Storm. I believe he worked in tandem with Jackie Smith whom her hired to head ABC daytime after working with her at CBS.

The decision would have been theirs. Agnes may have been consulted along the way.

As for Doug Marland the story I have always read is that Jackie Smith's daughter like the young characters on The Doctors so Jackie was lead to Marland.

I have heard other stories, including these, also. Personally I am aware of Nixon functioning in a consultant position at different times. And, I have read that about her other places, not just Schemering. Schemering as we know was right a lot of the time but when he was wrong, it would usually be something huge.

I have never heard of Nixon being involved in Monty being approached. Just Silverman, who had worked with her before.

One quick Google search of their names and here is LC discussing Donovan talking her into it, which is a story I also read from her in one of the 50th magazines.

Would you have ever guessed that you’d still be “checked in” to General Hospital all these years later?

Before coming to General Hospital, I had been on the CBS soap opera, Love Is a Many Splendored Thing and, when I left that role, I never intended to work on another soap opera.  Tom Donovan, who I adored and who I had worked with on that soap, had asked to meet with him and he ultimately charmed me into taking the role of Monica. I had never seen a single episode of General Hospital at that time, but Tom assured me that it was a great fit.  I remember my first day on the show was the same day that Elvis Presley died, and I was a big Elvis fan!  I could never have envisioned the impact that this job would have on my life.

JFP brought a few other of her faves to Y&R:

She brought Jason Thompson from GH to Y&R to play Billy Abbott.

She brought Michael E. Knight to Y&R to play the shady doctor Simon Neville.

Thompson and Knight each gushed about how great JFP was when they were brought to Y&R.

Knight thought his other (notTad) role on AMC was wonderful and thanked JFP for that character. I don't know of any viewers that liked that, but he did.

In viewer conversations, JFP's favorites were/are referred to as "FOJ" (Friends of Jill).

I’m confused - when was JFP ever involved with AMC or the Ted Orsini character?

Excellent point. She wasn't. JFP has been involved with so many shows but she never once touched AMC

My mistake. You are right that JFP was never at AMC.

Apologies.  I must have confused some unrelated things. So sorry.

My apologies. I usually look up references before making claims; but this time I didn't, and I remembered wrong.

.........

Edit. Found the interview. MEK was talking about Chuck Pratt, not JFP.

Chuck Pratt was at AMC and Y&R during MEK's roles at both shows.

This is one thing that I really like about the collaborative effort of fans in online messaging. If one person doesn't catch something, it is likely that someone else will.

Now that you posted this, I well remember reading it. I found it, I guess you'd say, endearing. The idea that after LIAMST she said to herself, "Never again!" And, then, thank goodness, Donovan sorta talked her into trying again. I personally find Monica to be such an imposing character. I heard recently that LC may be coming back to our screens again soon & I hope & pray that it is truthful & accurate. I miss Monica!

When Texas  ended, Gail Kobe and Pam Long were hired at  Guiding Light in the same roles. Several Texas actors appeared shortly after Long began writing the show; Jay Hammer, James Rebhorn, Harley Jane Kozak, and Michael Woods were all cast in new roles on Guiding Light.

I don't recall producers but I used to wonder who at ABC had a huge thing for Thorsten Kaye, being ubiquitous on OLTL, PC and AMC.
