As long as Maurice and Steve are on this show this is how it will always play out.  Unless the show goes from being the Sopranos to Oz.  And Oz won't work without Christopher Meloni's butt being the star.

This is the story I wanted for Heather years ago.  A medical reason to have her released so she and Scott can go back to scheming and manipulating people.  This was of course before they turned her into a serial killer and I wanted Robin Mattson in the role.  I am interested in seeing where the sorry goes.  Especially if it gives Kin Shriner more air time.

Hmmm. Possibly you are right about that. LGBTQ+ characters can end up being politicized. It would be a PITA if lesbian Kristina had one wild night of passion with Sexy Dexy & instead of being thoughtful about it the fans rioted!!!! Truly it would be a delightful thing to happen to Joss! Makes me laugh.

I think we ALL know your opinion about whose baby it was. Almost all of us disagree with your OPINION because we feel there's context, and it feels like you ignore that context.

And "Kristina would have ultimately made the decision to keep her child and tell Molly that the adoption she had been hoping for was not going to take place"? Where are you getting this? That's not fact -- you're just guessing.

What bothers me more than anything is that you paint this as some moral issue, as if Kristina keeping the baby would have been morally correct. I completely disagree, but since the point is moot, I won't address it further.whos

I am just going to love this post and not call anyone a troll or wrong.  Everyone has an opinion and that's fine.

To me, there is just such a different initial intent between surrogacy and adoption-aside from moral issues.    They aren't the same idea and shouldn't be painted as such.  Kristina didn't accidently get pregnant or needed to give up the baby for a variety of reasons.  She went into this full well knowing she was going to give the baby to Molly/TJ and got inseminated with TJ's sperm because she wouldn't be pregnant otherwise.

I agree.

Repeating the myth that gestational hosts would be unwilling to give the child they birth to its parents is an insult.  It plays upon the falsehood that a woman's hormones override their capacity for logic and empathy.  It also furthers the old soap trope that women who can't carry to term are somehow less emotionally attached to their children.

I think GH did a real disservice to their audience throughout this story.

Thank you, my friend.  It seems like such an antiquated vision to see surrogacy as the same as adoption .  I am sure Kristina has feels for the baby, but she never entered this situation thinking it was going to be her baby.

I couldn't agree more. And I find this myth to be incredibly dated and something we've moved passed long time ago as a society. As a gay married man who is in plans to have a child by surrogacy, I have a personal POV on this topic.

The truth is that in the reality of this show they should have never made this arrangement. IIRC Kristina has often been characterized as flighty and impulsive from way back. In this reality I absolutely see Kristina flaking on the agreed arrangements because she doesn’t think things through. Especially in the glow of a new romance, she was already playing family. With someone that left her in the hospital in her worst moment to eat at a nice restaurant. Not the hospital cafeteria so she could be close.

Molly and TJ’s baby and the Davis family overall were doomed from the start. Personally, I think this is making Kristina look awful and verging on unwatchable. We see clearly that she was never going to be able to hand that baby over.

And the reality is it was Kristina who convinced and borderline pressured Molly and TJ to be their surrogate. They were very apprehensive about letting Kristina be their surrogate, but she wouldn’t quit. Had that baby lived and Kristina kept it, it would have been an awful look to prey on a biologically barren couple and then snatch their only immediate hope of a child away from them.

I think on all of this I may occupy the most Minority Rapport statuses ever & that is because I am not convinced that Kristina was going to take the baby. Was it going to come up? God, yes. Has anything ever been more obvious? But, I could see Tolly & Krissy working it out.

Now, Blaze still MIA from the hospital, I blame four-square on the LGBTQ+ writing totally losing its mind. I have volunteered, loudly & often to be the new lesbian consultant to the writers. They need one terribly badly. What they have written is simply not credible. No lesbian EVER would have left that hospital! OJ, chicken soup, discussions of low blood sugar & sudden praise for forward movement by Natalia on attitude? GMAB! Too much, too soon, with very little to show for it. Then, as if it needed a topping added they scared the fandom half to death on a late Friday. Yes, Virginia, there may be a Santa Claus but Kraze is not breaking up, contrary to previews showing Natalia being stupid, but what else is new?

Yabbut, all of that existed & then pulled a plot event out of their hat. The OG surrogate appeared claiming to have lost the baby. Molly panicked!

    • Whoa. She should have fought like hell to get that. Was it the greatest show ever? No, but it had a fantastic cast and was practically guaranteed to last multiple seasons because of its star power. Could have certainly led to bigger and better things. If it had flopped she could have always gone back to soaps. Judith Light broke through on a sitcom where she was basically second banana to Tony Danza. That grew into a very busy and distinguished career. The woman is still regularly booked to this day.
    • I could understand her being frustrated by the fact that she'd been in the business 10+ years at that point, and probably couldn't even get in the door. But then again, she'd already gone out for pilot season once (that we know of) and she and  her agent knew a 35-ish woman had a very difficult time in Hollywood. I know she did a few guest spots, but other than Designing Women, nothing I saw--not even a Murder She Wrote, and that show had tons of ex-soapers on it. I mean, God bless Marilu Henner, but even having been on Taxi, she couldn't get arrested for years either.
    • I didn't rewatch that period, so I'm not really sure how much Bill is on. I recall something about him living at the boardinghouse. I think Van made Matt his guardian, and why she didn't name Josh would be a mystery to me, other than the HW decided they needed to keep Bill in Matt's sphere. Nola is also his aunt, although they don't know each other well, and Van wouldn't have trusted her anyway. There's Dinah---but she's unreliable. Billy gets out of jail around NYE.

    • That's on Kimmer. As someone posted above...she was offered roles in pilots but she would be part of an ensemble or supporting. She didn't want that so she came back to GL. I don't know what she thought would happen..someone offering her "Here's Kimmer!" or The "Zimmer Comedy Powerhouse Hour" variety show..but her housefrau fans did not have the same pull in HW as they did on the soaps. Forbes and Watros knew that you had to take small parts to get noticed ands start a career in primetime. I know she was in consideration for the wife in Evening Shade, but when you go up against Marilou Henner, the soap diva looses. I could see her frustrated in a role like that, where she has to be the understanding wife with a bit of sass, but she could have made it work, if it wasnt for her huge ego.  I think it would have been an issue haveing all the powerhouse comedy actors surrounding...(lets face it..Alice Ghostly woudl have wiped the floor with her...) but it would have been a good launching padd.
    • Oh good, so I don't have to wait too long haha. I'm glad she cares about seeing Bill graduate. I'm guessing I'm in for a bumpy ride between Bill and Matt, if he's going to be his caretaker? Who else could it be, maybe Josh?

    • Maeve makes a few sporadic appearances, but returns full-time the next spring/summer. She's back in time to see Bill and Michelle graduate, although she skulks around town and wasn't going to tell anyone she was alive. She comes back wearing this HUGE hat---which was a throwback to the old Vanesaa. lol.
    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
