I have to rant about Eric because he is the biggest jerk when it comes to women.

After demanding that his son's christening occur at the mansion of his ex-lover, this week, he learned that his wife has been late on paying the rent.  Did he question why he doesn't add to a shared bank account with his wife for household expenses? Nope.  Did he beg his wife's forgiveness for not contributing equally to the rent? Nope.  Did ask his father to pick some extra shifts at the pub in order to earn his keep?  Nope.  Did he head over to the newspaper and offer his services as a photographer?  Nope.

He interrogated Sloan about how her spending habits have led to them paying the rent late.  Once again, making her defensive for not being responsible for fulfilling his needs.

It is going to be difficult to empathize with Eric when he becomes righteously indignant at the revelation over the baby switch.  Because, at this point, I'm rooting for Sloan to find her own Italian billionaire to save her from these fools in Salem!  She's too pretty and too smart to spend a lifetime in a one-room apartment, raising someone else's kid, and eating chowder.

I didn't mention it at the time, but I found the whole conversation odd.  So, Sloane works full time, is a new/mom and wife, but is also responsible for paying all the bills on time?  Not just monetarily, but she also has to physically sit down and pay the bills in her already limited free time?  Eric never inquired at all about finances?  It's not that odd to me that they have different bank accounts, but it is very odd Eric has no clue what Sloan's personal finances even entail.  Does he even know what her salary is lol?  Eric has never asked if the rent was paid or if she needed money for rent?

Their lack of communication is shocking and it seems like Sloan is required to be the only adult in the room while Eric takes a few pictures.  I give him some credit for trying to come up with a budget though.

Great point about Eric trying to get a job at the newspaper or picking up some shifts at the Pub.

And I agree all the stuff Eric does in regards to Nicole is incredibly unfair to Sloan.

It almost justifies stealing a baby.

All jokes aside, it is a credit to the writing to create any sympathy or complexity at all to an age-old soap story.  I also applaud letting the story simmer and play multiple beats before it gets exposed and Sloan needs redemption.

Agreed.  I also find it interesting and creative for Sloan to not even like motherhood.  I know it's to make her more unsympathetic, but it's a different take for a soap.  Usually these babies switch stories have the culprit immediately falling in love with the child and everything parenting.

I know it will never happen, but I think it would be hilarious if Sloan just gave up Jude and Eric just because neither were worth it to her anymore.

I think Sloan likes the idea of Eric more than she likes Eric.  She had a crappy childhood and Eric was nice to her and different from men she dated before.  He offered her some respectability when the entire town hated her and does seem to love her.

Sloan is realizing now marriage/kids isn't exactly what she wants though.

Johnny/Chanel tend to spend episodes doing nothing lol.  The Julie stuff was weird for me.  She's suddenly so overwhelmed by people and children in a huge mansion with staff, but lives with Doug, Chad, Charlotte, and Thomas in a much tinier house and is fine.  And then instead of just going to a hotel for the night this 80 year old woman decides to drive in a snowstorm to a remote cabin instead without telling anyone where she was going.  Who does that?

    • Yeah, Martin really did make me laugh when him and Smitty jumped up to drag Leslie out. I am interested in seeing how this fallout will impact his storyline as well. Especially since he is so protective regarding his family/family's image. I am interested in seeing how he will interact with Eva for the time being, they did have a warmer interaction earlier on once they met. But he seems to have doubts about her possibly being Ted's right now. I wonder how long it might take for him to come around with her. I could see the younger generation warming up to her quicker than the older ones. Though of course I think there will be anger/tension for a while regarding the reveal and her role in it. Perhaps Naomi/Chelsea will ease up on Eva first then eventually Martin/Kat might down the line. I really do love Nicole. I'm glad that DD is playing her. She really is the heart of the family and also agree the show. She is so easy to root for and I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out for her. I am enjoying the development of most of the characters on this show. I enjoy most of them including Bill with his trifling self lol. I do feel that Bill's love for his daughters is genuine and that gives him some depth. A few of the characters I don't care for that much (like Bill, Ashley, Vanessa). I wasn't too big on Andre at first, but I am warming up more to him as the actor is settling into the role. I like most of the characters on this show. Also, I am interested in seeing what happens if Eva indeed goes and lives with the new doctor that was introduced. I could see this adding another layer to her story, maybe she will become more vixen-ish, on what type of relationship they end up having. And/or maybe she will end up becoming more hardened as she deals with being an outcast, especially if she falls out with Leslie as well. I think that AM will do a good job of showcasing the different layers of this character as she deals with the fallout of the affair/paternity reveal.

Got another sad news from the Bahamian community (not a celebrity)  https://www.instagram.com/p/DJMSrYCgyes/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Former Bahamian Senate President J Henry Bostwick, Husband of former 1st Bahamian Female Cabinet Minister Dame Janet Bostwick is dead yesterday on his 86th birthday.    Thanks and for those who've aren't familiar with the talk shows in The Bahamas on this thread here, his talk show named The Freedom March with Dr Rodney Moncur that airs on ILTV and The Beat 103.5 FM Nassau every weekday afternoons. IIRC, he suffered a illness before he died.  Here's the link for his final taping of the show before his death: https://ewnews.com/this-is-powerful-rodney-moncurs-final-sign-off/

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
