From the descriptions alone, you can almost feel that this is MVJ’s life work after having to write for all those ridiculous stories for white folks on GH and B&B for so many years, lol

It definitely gives off the feeling of "I'm done writing for what they think people want" and it gives "this is what people want / need to see!"

And from the description for Jillian, they’re really drilling the fact that Betty is a singer and Jillian inherited her talent. I think they’re going to cast actors who can also sing for these roles or people with musical theater experience.

Possibly... but again, I think it is also interesting that they're noting actors must be residents of Atlanta. Seems like they're not pulling the same shït other soaps do with actors traveling from coast to coast for the shows. They want them in-town, permanently and settled down. They're not messing around.

The descriptions sound fantastic.  Have there been any fan casting now that we know the characters ?

For previous roles, yes... but these, no. And I doubt it'll matter or help much. I suspect [some] soap vets than reside in Atlanta will be chosen or gone after, and the rest will either be local talent or talent willing to re-locate for the job.

The first soap to premiere in daytime with gay characters as well.

Well, known gay characters right off the bat. Santa Barbara had Channing Capwell Jnr.

Given the way the other soaps write for LGBTQIA+ characters and relationships, the Marcus character should be interesting to see how this show represents and writers for him.

I hope the casting people are bringing their A game here - soaps need both talented AND charismatic actors to elevate the material. That’s incredibly important for a new soap.

I am curious as well. The setup with the former reporter turned stay at home dad husband with the rising politician is very interesting. I'll be curious to see the write up for the husband. It has been so rare to feature two African American males in a romantic relationship (I can only think of Chad and Vincent/Valerie on "Passions").

On a side note, I forgot how misleading the press is even involving soap operas. Leading with a gay African American president is only going to bring out a contigent of people who are going to latch onto that in a negative way. Besides, Marcus isn't the president.

(Does this mean that Betty and her two daughters have already been cast?)

I'd be curious if they have been cast or whether because this seems to be the second tier of casting that different people are handling it. With all the producers involved, I wouldn't be surprised if they are sharing the wealth. Or you are right and they have already cast.

Who knows; possibly? It's also interesting the nine players TV Insider revealed were all series regulars. Are the names of other spouses already cast or are they recurring?

Patrick was described in the first round of casting sides, but wasn't being cast until this round. I think someone even speculated that Obba Babatunde had already been cast in the role, but it seems that this wasn't the case though I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being the case still. So I would say that they weren't cast yet.

The other thing to remember are things change in the process. Jillian and Marcus' spouses could possibly be in the next round or the characters might go in a different direction. I am curious whether the other third generation Jackson, Cheryl, will appear in the beginning or whether she will be offscreen initially.

I have questions based on what's been revealed. I can't tell if Stacy and Sam are a married couple or are involved with other people. Do Stacy, Courtney, Diane, Sara, and Jessica make up the social circle that is eluded to in the Elizabeth's description? If so, I think having a sort of tight social network like the ones featured on the "Housewives" series would be a smart, fresh dynamic for daytime which I would embrace.

I am also rather surprised that Elizabeth actually loves Joseph, which is a refreshing from the usual scheming and devious mistresses. There is definite underdog potential if cast properly.

The political network with Patrick and Marcus with crossover potential with Joseph and Jillian is very interesting to me.

Still very excited about he potential here. As others have said, casting is going to be key.

Reading through Courtney and Diane again - I am assuming Diane is Courtney’s daughter she had to give up for some reason when she was young, and now Diane is vengeful and wants to pay Courtney back for “abandoning” her.

Basically, I think Diane will be MVJ/Guza’s new Carly…

Also interesting is that Sam is the only character to not have their race mentioned. His age isn't either so it'll be interesting to see where he'll fit in.

So we have

1. Marcus and Daniel,a Washington based couple

2.Sam, the surgeon who works at Garland Memorial ans aprivate practice,

3. Stacy, the high end realtor

4. Jillian Washington based attorney

5. Luis trainer at the Country Club.

So the show will  have 2 locales. Wonder how they will connect Atlanta to Washington?

Then you have the hospital, private practice, real estate office and Country Club.

I'm just thinking in terms of sets and locations, it seems ambitious.

Will there be a common meeting place for interaction eg Country Club bar/cafe etc?

It's going to be fascinating to see this all take shape.

All very impressive. I can't really put it all together in my head from the sides until I see some casting.

I don’t think it is set in Atlanta, just being filmed there. The show is set in the suburbs of DC, correct?

Yes
