When I read words like these I become positively giddy! “We wanted to have a show on the air that spoke to a different side of the Black experience,” Val Jean tells Entertainment Weekly over a joint Zoom with Ducksworth. “Not the downtrodden, not the ghettoized. We wanted to show rich, Black people doing messy things.” Yes, please, we will be happy for you to give us rich black messy ... oh I don't know maybe bitches.

However, at this point, apparently I have to go look up this Karen person.

Wow! Karla Mosley looks *amazing* and I love that they have Karen Huger in a guest spot. Not the best time in her life, but it definitely makes sense to include one of The Real Housewives of Potomac and can bring more eye balls to the show.

For me it's voices, too. Tamara Tunie speaks & there's a possibility that I might just melt, which is also the case when Karla Moseley speaks, as well, so two rich bitches, mother & daughter & me hanging on their every word, every nuance, every change in tone, maybe throw in some sarcasm.

I'm sorry, but I just can't stop looking at Clifton Davis without getting the theme song from "That's My Mama!" stuck in my head, lol.

Messy on soaps and "uncouth and low rent behavior" are two different things. But you've been off this show since they didn't set it in ATL, use your fanfic or cast random men you found on Google.

    • I'm good with the gushing, too. There aren't many soap icons like John Black, and that's important to celebrate and remember. And yes, life does go on for other characters, but as they say, timing is everything. Going sky diving the day before the funeral? And during a week of shows that were so powerful emotionally? No.
    • No. There might have been a slight pause for dramatic effect after his "death," but pretty soon after they showed him in France getting plastic surgery and getting involved with his doctor, then planning with her to bring Christina to France. (She thought he had good reason to do it; she wasn't a bad person or anything). Now that I think of it, there must have been some kind of pause before that, during the 70s, because when Rita was accused of killing a patient when she lived in Texas, part of the backstory was that Roger had been there, too. Not sure exactly when or how long that was.
    • Thank you. She’s disgusting.
    • I've already stated that I don't like Doug being written as this meek and submissive. It was so lame watching him leave her like that. Vanessa can divorce him, but she then needs to get her thot ass into therapy. She's not only having sex with every guy she runs into, but is now having  sex with a skeevy perv on a poker table. I'm going to give the BTG some credit here. For months, many on this board were delighting in the Vanessa/Joey flirting and what they saw as chemistry. I think we're now seeing what the writers always intended -- that Joey is a disgusting POS wannabe mobster.
    • John Black actually was the ultimate good guy soap hero. So I don’t mind the town gushing over him. It’s deserved.
    • Be glad it wasn't a Perry production.

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
