Oh I pray they won't do that time jump nonsense! LOL I definitely don't want days to drag out Passions style long, but I do hope it's the typical depending on the story certain events maybe last about a week?

If they are able to do any remotes that would be welcome! especially to show up B&B. Only difference is that I hope BTG would make the most out of their remotes story wise...

@Errol I know it's early but can you please try to find out if the CBS daytime people are communicating with CBS sports?

Here is an update on UEFA Champions League.
No word as to which matches will air on CBS broadcast TV,
but these are the dates of the knockout phase.

2024-2025 European Soccer
Champions League "knockout stage"

https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/0287-1964b9b0f4ce-e069b2345f39-1000--2024-25-champions-league-details/

The knockout playoff is new this year:

Knockout phase play-offs:
Tues/Wed February 11&12, 2025
Tues/Wed February 18&19, 2025

Round of 16:
Tues/Wed March 4&5, 2025
Tues/Wed March 11&12, 2025

Quarter-finals:
Tues/Wed April 8&9, 2025
Tues/Wed April 15&16, 2025

Semi-finals:
Tues/Wed April 29&30, 2025
Tues/Wed May 6&7, 2025

Final:
Saturday May 31, 2025

In the past few years, most of the Wed&Thurs knockout phase matches
(Round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals)
disrupted B&B and/or Y&R, but only in Mountain and Pacific Timezones (and sometimes Alaska & Hawaii).

The match coverage is live in European evenings which translated to
CBS broadcast TV in these timeslots:
Pre-game show 2:00-3:00 PM Eastern
Soccer match 3:00-5:00 PM Eastern
Total of three hours of live programming.
(2pm-5pm Eastern)
(1pm-4pm Central)
(Noon-3pm Mountain)
 (11am-2pm Pacific)
(10am-1pm Alaska)
(8am-11am Hawaii)

EDIT -- during month of March, these might differ by one hour,
because the matches are live in Europe which enters Daylight Savings different week of March than USA

If the March, April, and May matches all air on CBS broadcast TV,
then it would impact BTG in most timezones.
(in contrast to impacting Y&R in western zones only)

March Madness (NCAA Basketball)
First round: Thursday and Friday March 20-21, 2025

https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2024-05-03/2025-march-madness-mens-ncaa-tournament-schedule-dates

The basketball programming is a full preemption of all CBS shows nationally on those two dates

Hopefully there are well crafted endings for the episodes before preemptions. That would build suspense to keep viewers on the edge of their seat and ready to tune back in. With a preemption barely a month into the debut I think it's smart to get early viewers locked in and invested.

Thanks @Errol
Fyi, I edited my post with the times of the soccer matches broadcasts,
with the caveat that the times I listed could be off by one hour,
because from March 9-30th, Europe is still on Standard Time while USA is already in Daylight Savings.
The matches are live in Europe.

I'm hoping for a more modern look. In the streaming era and the effort to attract newer viewers, I think that would help. I also think launching a studio based soap would hurt efforts to syndicate in other countries.

Now if they do go fully studio based then I hope it leans towards what GH offers which is big sets and sets for pretty much every character so all the scenes don't take place in the same 4-5 places.

I don't like the UK soap model at all. This doesn't feel soapy to me.
There is something very special about the American Soap model. It can feel like a play and it has a very specific atmosphere. 2013 OLTL and AMC gave the old model a fresh vibe, but they didn't really change it. I hated early Sunset Beach and I was not that crazy about The City either. Didn't AMC also try something "new" at some point?
The thing is that the new look takes something away from the drama for me.

The LOOK of the show is anyone's guess but I strongly believe one thing that I saw being mentioned a while back either here or elsewhere: It'll be a daytime show with a dramatic primetime feel in terms of content. The character descriptions, including what they do for a living, sets the tone for a number of storyline possibilities, some, perhaps even over the top.

    • The actor who plays Martin has been teasing that nobody has guessed Martin's secret. I love that for things like that and the June story we have no idea. I feel like if we didn't have the day ahead feeds Anita's reveal would've been shocking as well. I love that they aren't going the obvious route with these stories.
    • I tried following the news in Los Angeles at https://laist.com (independent public radio and news) They had up-to-the minute accurate info during the wildfires in January. There's no video, no impact to my mind as to what's happening. Trying other outlets, to get the truth, but it's hard.
    • That's a bit murky since that happened during a writers' strike. Assuming Kristen Marie had a 2-year contract she left about when her contract would have expired and Sharlene and Josie showed up right before that. Lemay was officially credited as HW from September 1988 but it seems very probable that his anticipated tenure influenced events that happened during the strike which started in April.
    • I've seen so many posters over the years who are bright, creative, well-versed in soap history, and who care deeply about the integrity of the genre. I'd put the shows' chances in their hands a lot faster than I would allow any of the "usual suspects" to take control of the dramas they've already helped decimate. When I returned to university in the 1980s, I created a bible for a new soap and presented it in my screenwriting class. It was in reaction to how badly I saw the network shows being butchered at the time. The creative process was thrilling; a total joy, and I still smile when I remember the positive feedback I received from the professor and my fellow students. I was used to seeing written commentary from professors on my work. This one wrote me a long, complimentary note on the final page of the bible, but also graded it 97%, A+. I was beaming ear to ear for days!

    • Thanks. I do wonder if Rose was meant to be more given the caliber of actress they hired. I remembered Sara and Peggy staying longer as they were still on when Soapnet started their repeats. I wonder if that was part of the reason they brought Jake's brother in.
    • Speculation about Missy Reeves' potential evolution on basic civil rights doesn’t change my opinion of her. My view is shaped entirely by her public social media presence—which I find unpalatable—and I have no interest in learning more beyond that. I simply liked Jennifer’s hair and dress. That’s as far as my admiration goes.

    • Cheryl was gone before Lemay came back but I agree with your thinking that he would rather a character from a family he introduced to the show than a family he did not originate.  I remember reading somewhere in the early 90's probably after DS left as writer, their was an either a writer or a producer who made a comment that their intent was bring the McKinnon family back to AW.  Would have made sense for the newer viewers from the 80's.  Much like Lemay's attempt to bring the Frames back from his writing in the 70's in his 1988 return
    • DePriest left in January 1988. According to the AWHP, Rose last appeared nearly a year before in February 1987 while both Sara and Peggy appeared as late as October 1987.
    • Annie was not brought in as an antagonist for Reva. Reva wasn’t even on the canvas when Annie first appeared in late 1994.
    • The speculation……….very entertaining.
