Again, having a theatrically trained and veteran actress like TT is such a huge boon to this new show. She’s at the top of the cast list and sets the tone.

I know lots of us are wishing for Victoria Rowell, but I wonder if she would be happier directing on a show like this than acting. She was pushing so hard for bts representation at Y&R, and I know she knows how to work within the soap camera setup. She might be able to bring in some of that Bell glamour and lushness from her experiences there.

I wonder if VR or DM for that matter were ever really in any consideration, but I think they made the right decision here. TT can sing and has a working class upbringing that really gels with the character description for Betty/Anita. To me, this is perfect casting.

MVJ is a master at writing monologues (like Luke’s confession to Lucky about raping Laura, which Geary gave her a special shout out for when he won the Emmy that year and didn’t do his typical ad-libbing with by most accounts). Assuming she can write some select scripts (in addition to her other responsibilities), I really look forward to hopefully seeing her give TT some killer monologues to act out.

Tamara Tunie just made me go from will check this out to must watch. Tunie is not only an awesome actress, she is also grounded and brings depth to all the material I have seen her work with.

I have watched the premieres in my lifetime of Sunset Beach, Port Charles, and Passions. This feels different. Tamara Tunie being cast feels different. We may have pretty people here but they are not going to just be pretty people. Looking forward to this! They aren’t just looking for flash and over the top.

Totally agree, and I'd add Karla Mosley as another actress who makes this a must-see for me. I've loved her since her Guiding Light days, and she was the only reason I ever tuned into B&B (briefly, when her story was front-burner). I'm so glad that they're finally getting a chance to be on a show that, from the start, treats them as true leading ladies and doesn't have them playing marginal characters who can easily be removed from the narrative at a writer or producer's whim.

I had no idea she wrote that. Still an unbelievable scene, on every level of production.

She's not based out of Atlanta, so I doubt she'd be considered. Unless she's willing to relocate to Atlanta, which I don't see happening.

I'm confident the show will make exceptions (within reason) for talent they really want to bring on board.

That whole storyline was her baby. Revisiting the original rape using her own rape, Liz's rape & Audrey's rape ... Amazing to me that they let her run with it, but damned smart that they did. The other thing she wrote that blows me away is the best catfight ever, on Generations. Those women almost destroyed an apartment set.

Tamara Tunie is wonderful - top of my list in terms of casting. This bodes so well for the show.

I know she's retired, but Renee Jones lives in Georgia and I'd love to see her back in daytime, even if it was a guest stint or recurring.

Why would the name "Jackson" be problematic for this show's core family?  Am I missing something?

Personally, I wasn’t at all thinking the name change had to do with one name being problematic, but that Duprée might be signaling a very distinct genealogical signpost.

Just got home (from work) after not being able to express my elation about the news and seeing it all over social media.

Oh, I am so glad to see Tamara, Daphne, and Karla back on daytime!

I’m glad they changed the title. I have a pet peeve about shows that start with “The __,” like The Chew, The Revolution, The View, The Talk, and The Real. It just feels uninspired to me.

Rosalind?  I thought Ms. Tunie's character is Anita?

Yeah, neither TT or DD's character names are consistent with today's reports.

Since MVJ is the creator, I am trusting her until she says it's a mistake and corrects herself, lol.
