I love it - I was just saying I wanted a bit more character focus. I will say that some moments are on the cheesy side of things

I also think that I already know that I'm going to hate the influencer storylines and just roll my eyes so hard at it, but I guess it's realistic these days

No, I agree. I was just telling a friend this is where ABCD has had it over on CBS' daytime dept for at least a decade now - the Y&R, etc. promos have been incredibly shallow and superficial for years. Just random action and lines. GH's promo dept is certainly not what it used to be, but their promos and many of ABCD's for other shows are/were often a bit more character-driven in the modern era.

Fortunately this isn't like those Y&R promos, but I do think it could go deeper. It's a fun trailer and I get why they are highlighting the glitz and OTT soapiness for the general audience and to bring in new viewers - to underline 'this is a soap opera about wealthy Black people.' Spotlighting high drama and messy behavior does get eyes on the show, and that is important. I just hope they modulate these promos a bit once they're on the air. Though frankly I don't trust CBS Daytime to get those right.

Today's promo is another example of why we should trust the process when it comes to the promo. We're still 4 weeks away from the premiere and they continue to deepen the promo as we get closer to the premiere date. People were just asking for character profiles and boom, there they are. They continue to show us that they're committed to doing this right.

Also, on the subject of spoilers, I wonder how that will be once the show is on the air. I hope it doesn't end up being a soap where everything is known prior to it airing. So many big twists end up spoiled which is fine, but I'd prefer to be surprised.

I will be That Guy and say maybe it's because I always found Timon Durrett so fine as yet another cheater on Queen Sugar, but I think Bill and Dani may bring it back around together eventually. He is a commanding presence.

I love that the drips of information are becoming more frequent, and we are still 23 days away!

The latest promo shows even more of the character dynamics, including the potential sibling rivalry between Dani/Nicole, insinuations of Bill's influence over the Duprees, the conflicts in Martin and Smitty's marriage, Hayley's struggle to be accepted in FC. I love it!

I also love the fact that the Thomases have been confirmed as rivals to the Dupree faction. It looks like they will bring class dynamics into the story as well which is terrific.

    • They said the teens had gone out for the night. With who? They have no friends to speak of. They should've been there at the party. The excuse was lame.
    • This is how I remember it, too. I remember Evie confronting Rita about her involvement with Tim when she knew she was in love with him. Bawling her eyes out, talking about how she dreamed of marrying and having children with him. It's amazing she and Rita stayed close after that. I don't recall who he left town with. Yes, Holly definitely evolved/grew up after she and Ed split. I remember Lynn Deering as Holly. She was very different from Maureen Garrett. I remember Garrett's first episode. She is a rare example of a recast who caught on with the audience fairly quickly. They were pretty much over--Evie saw them hug goodbye when Hope was about to leave town. She misinterpreted the kiss, fell down and hit her head. That's how she became blind. Robin Mattson was playing Hope at the time. If they didn't want Elvera back in the mid-80s, it could have been interesting if they had brought Robin back to play a Hope with more backbone.
    • "Make them laugh.  Make them cry.  Make them wait."  They nailed the wait part.
    • I really CAN'T with the two dolls comment. It's so cynical. So disgusting. A billionaire telling normal working people this is just... you can't make this sh-t up. That's comics villain level of vile.
    • This episode was on fire and definitely the best the show's done so far.  And of course the two big reasons were TMG and Ambyr Michelle who were phenomenal.  This could be both their Emmy reels.  Sad thing is they will probably be in the Supporting category so only one of them will win.   Claybon was pretty good when Martin confronted his dad. I'm glad to see he's improving.  I also liked that scene with Andre with Eva, showing some compassion with his cousin.  Now that the secret is out, Eva and Leslie can start to interact with more of the cast, like at the end of today's episode with Leslie showing up at the Dupree's.  And hopefully that will help the show be not as boring - this storyline was the only one that was truly interesting, and now it gets to branch out.  Minor nitpicks: bad editing during the Eva/Leslie/Ted scene by themselves, and when Bill was rubbing Hayley's feet.  They gotta clean this up.
    • It's the best episode ... in months.
    • I'm sorry to respond so late. It's just this is the first time I'm seeing this. You are amazing! Thank you!
    • I like KKL's hair straight, but I also like the waves. I have no issues with her hair... AN and JMW on the other hand... have had some rough moments hair wise the past few months.
