On the subject of smirks, BF smirked a doozy of one the other day which looked like he was stifling a laugh and about to cry all at the same time. It gave me pause because it reminded me of the Scared Straight documentary when one of the young men got chewed out by a prisoner for laughing when in fact it was a habitual nervous twitch.

Well, today was interesting, that's for sure.

I think maybe I was seeing acting chops out of Camila that I've never seen before, unless it was years ago. She's nearly hysterical, although she has good reason for that. It's an unusual possible dynamic that Rafe is Commish, but he believes in Camila's innocence. Will be watching to see how that plays out.

Once again, Paulina does something unexpected. Who in their right mind would make EJ DiMera the DA?!! Doesn't that need to be somebody into law & order?

A Wendy bent on vengeance is going to be a total change of character! And, Tripp's going to have to dig down & find something new in himself just to support her.

Does anyone have any theories at all on who the killer might be?

A lot of scumbaggery and stupidity in today’s episode. It was a perfect example of why I don’t give a crap about what happens to Gabi and Stefan.

Rafe really needed to use some tough love today instead of just coddling her.

EJ as the new DA is stupid, but it’s kind of worth it just to see Gabi and Stefan squirm

Pretty much the only person I liked today was Wendy. I’m not sure if Victoria Grace can pull off that deep hatred and revenge acting style but it was nice to see her do something different.

Still think that Wendy and Tripp need some conflict of their own, instead of just being secondary in somebody else’s

Don’t let him win!

I've always liked Camilla, even though she has a tendency to overdo it. But the writing for Gabi & Stefan has been just atrocious, I don't care a whit about them or their quest for DiMera dominance, and I never have. Camilla does scheming well, but Gabi lost her rootability when they removed the connections that gave her character more dimension – namely, Arianna, Will and Sonny.

The EJ as DA twist defies all belief, but that's pretty much the MO of this show.

I thought Victoria Grace did well yesterday and okay today.  It is nice to see her doing something.  She does better with the tears than the anger.

I think CB did really good today too.  I just have no sympathy for Gabi.  The EJ stuff is ridiculous, but it is soapy.  Who did kill Li?  Rolf?  Megan?  He barely even knows anyone in town.

True.

Rolf and Megan are the only people that make sense.  I haven't looked at spoilers so that's just speculation on my part.  For all I know it could have been Trask somehow lol.

VG did surprisingly well with the crying scenes.  The anger/revenge stuff might be a bit out of her acting wheelhouse though.

This may be overcomplicating things, but, I wonder if the last minute details about Xiao Xing were meant to foreshadow her arrival?  Although, from the story, it didn't sound bad enough to be a motive for murder.

Also, are we to assume that EJ being the DA means his hit woman will never be prosecuted?  And who told Paulina that he needed a job the same night that he got fired from Dimera?

    • I mean...Sarah Michelle Gellar did go on to be a household name and food guru. I can see Amber doing the same with the same talent.  Amen.
    • It really is ridiculous how happy episodes from 40 years ago make me. God, MKA is so young!
    • Holy sh.it. THAT was a damn soap opera. I’m at a loss for words for how good that was.
    • A private elevator penthouse with a spiral staircase to the primary suite.  Sign me up! The only deficit was that various riff-raffs seemed to have easy access to the elevator.

    • Same here.  Anyone who voluntarily left Margo's penthouse set (except to go overseas or to Heaven) was immediately on my blacklist.  lol.

    • The penthouse was my favorite set... and it changed hands from Margo to Draper/April to Miles/Nicole then to just Miles... before he opted to give that beautiful place for that drab house with the even more drab Beth.  That was a jump the shark moment for me LOL
    • The storyline April and Draper are involved in during the summer/autumn of 1979 seems fairly "benign" but soon turns very serious.  April has a VERY intrusive, wealthy mother (Margo Huntington Dorn).  Margo knows that April and Draper (who've recently had a miscarriage and are theoretically never going to be able to conceive another baby) want to buy a house.  Margo hoodwinks them into buying a house they can't afford.  The house is listed at $100,000 (about $400,000 in today's dollars).  Margo pays the first $35,000 and leads Draper to believe the asking price of the house is $65,000 instead of $100,000.  If Draper finds out his meddling mother-in-law paid 1/3 of the cost of the home and tricked him, he'll be mad as hell.   Meanwhile, Draper has received a job offer from a prestigious New York law firm.  Margo pulls some strings and has the senior partner in the firm rescind the offer, to keep April in Monticello.  If Draper finds out about THAT, he'll be even angrier with Margo than he will be about the house trickery.  All of that is "bubbling under the surface" in the fall of 1979 but will be the next major story, as everything begins to spiral out of control.   Yep, you've got the Karrs and their very basic middle-class house, the Victorian-themed place where Miles and Nicole live, April and Draper's old craftsman house with the exposed beams, the Madisons & their Mission revival house, and Margo with her 1970s-chic penthouse.  Each of the sets is completely different.  And their budget was like zero, lol.
    • It felt weird and out of place.  I get it. While I agree with those on here that say he's gotten better, it's still really bad. I'm not seeing the "good" acting some see...but I'll give him a B for being better than when he first started. There's potential. I'll leave it at that.
