Preferences aside, does anyone else feel like Cyrus's connection to Laura is weird?  They only found that they are siblings a few years ago; while they were middle-aged adults.  But, he's dropping in to her office, and she stops to talk to him in prison.  For comparison, I don't recall Laura being that close with Amy after she returned (obviously there were real-life issues that kept them apart, but you know what I mean).  I assume they are not trying to reform Cyrus, but it always feels creepy when visits Laura and Carly.

Also, minor point, if Carly's going to stay at the diner, she's going to need to start wearing an apron, or at least stopping dressing in business casual attire.  Pretty soon, she'll need a loan from Michael to pay her dry cleaning bill.

So, Austin recognized whoever was in the room when he walked in, so he knew his killer. It's not Ava. Cyrus is too obvious. What if Charlotte was using her tarot deck & accidentally triggered Drew? Did Austin & Drew know each other?

Can anyone think of any way that Mason could have been up & about? But, if it were Mason wouldn't there be a lollipop?

Besides Mason & Austin do we know anyone else who worked for Cyrus?

Betty the planted nanny? Could have been.

I keep thinking about Charlotte & the tarot cards. What if she accidentally triggered someone? The only people I can think of who were previously brainwashed are Drew & Dante. Was there anyone else?

I know it wasn't Ava. I feel like Cyrus is too obvious. But it could have been someone at his behest. And, I don't know whether he is dead - yet. But, he is going to die. Not soap dead either.

I'm less focused on the identity of the shooter, versus how Austin will survive, and if he'll cooperate with the police.

  1. We can rule out Cyrus, because he was deliberately shown in Laura's office.
  2. Mason is in prison.
  3. Anna just shot someone last week, so I don't think she'd be out there shooting again.
  4. And Ava is clearly the red herring.

My way overcomplicated theory still comes back to Dante.

  1. Only he and Robert knew that Austin wanted to make a plea deal.
  2. The assassin was clearly male
  3. I feel like he was compromised while he was held prisoner, and he is doing someone else's bidding.

    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
