LIFETIME: "Ladies of the 80's: A Diva's Christmas"

If you're a TV nerd like I am, you'll also remember her from all those Tylenol commercials she made back in the day, lol.

Last I heard, Susan Saint James was happily retired and living in CT with her husband, Dick Ebersol.  But, you know, I think she could be persuaded to appear in a Christmas movie (w/ Jane Curtin and the rest of the "Kate & Allie" cast?).

And, OMG, seeing Stefanie Powers again in anything would be awesome.  Right now, there's a thread about classic primetime miniseries in the Cancelled Soaps thread, and BITD, she and Jaclyn Smith were QUEENS of the miniseries!

I think I would die if I ever saw Miss Hall and Miss Lucci share the screen with each other.  Talk about "Clash of the Titans," lol.

Meanwhile, it's a shame Brenda Dickson has crazied her way out of the business, because she would make a good addition to this ever-growing list, too.  You can't remember the '80's without remembering her Jill Abbott showing up for work at Jabot in expensive evening gowns, lol.

It just so happened that when reunion movies/specials were a big deal circa 2001-2005, I was regularly watching Kate & Allie on Oxygen and was a huge fan. I wanted so badly for a follow-up to the show, but even then it seemed to be more or less "forgotten" in the canon of 80s family sitcoms. I didn't realize SSJ was retired.

I said it just by reading the synopsis that they probably just switched Morgan to Joan's character and added Loni as Morgan's. With that said, it's really lazy to leave obvious references like that in, but then again it is a Lifetime movie.

Married at First Sight is their #1 franchise but rarely tops 700,000 viewers. Their recent movies have averaged between 300,000-500,000 viewers. They supplement the ratings with their streaming platform, but based on the live ratings alone, I’d definitely expect to see some of these ladies again. I mean this is the second project in one year for Donna so they must be happy with what they’re getting from her.

I use to watch MAFS. I was always hoping we'd get a gay version but lifetime never did one. So I stopped hoping and watching it. Although some of the seasons were really good.

Good to know there's a chance for more Ladies of the 80s movies.

I will say, I’m really impressed Lifetime invested so much into promoting this. They probably have over 10-20 Christmas movies that premiere each year and you don’t see this type of promo campaign around them typically. It’s nice they decided to devote this time to women who are primarily in their 70s and 80s.

    • @Maxim @draglover Character: Ivan Marais, assistant to Vivian Alamain. Actor: Ivan G'Vera from Prague. Jason47 has an old autograph here: https://jason47.com/days/autogvera.html
    • It is DAYS, Vivian Allamain's right hand man, Ivan (pronounced EE-Vahn) Same  guy is the red head fortune teller. (We are on a roll now with ID thee drag queen!) WOW, I do not have any memory of Evil Rex doing this. GOOD fory ou!!!
    • Okay, draglover, sorry I have now found a blonde in drag. Just didn't see them before. I had to watch it very slowly. Anyway, it's DAYS - Vivian - Ivan again, blonde this time, red head looking like a fortune teller in the other pic. Same actor/character/show.

Wull, hey, is we a team all of a sudden or whut?!!!
    • The blonde drag is also Ivan, I believe. The long straight black wig is Peter Barton when he was playing Eddie on Sunset Beach.
    • Sorry, I don't know the non-AW ones. In addition to the 2x Cass disguised himself as Krystle (1984 to hide from Tony Jones, 1994 investigating Felicia's disappearance), there was one occasion in October 1987 where Cass imposter Rex Allingham dressed as a woman and, claiming to be Nicole's Aunt Blanche, disrupted her date with another man. (At the time I don't think the audience yet knew that it wasn't Cass.)
    • THANK YOU SO MUCH. If there was any way we could sticky this post or make it so we don't forget where it is. I'm going to bookmark it for sure! AND WOW... Season 15 - nearly a whole month of skipped episodes. LOL.
    • JFP was only as strong as her writers, which is why her output got worse and worse when she decided she was the only writer anyone needed. They could have easily had a decent short-term story with Lando - maybe cast him as a terminal patient at Cedars, or a long-lost Bauer or Reardon who would leave town after his story is done and possibly return at a later date with a recast. He might become close to Ed and Michelle, similar to how Ed had taken Kelly under his wing years earlier. Maybe he could have been tied to Maureen's death, somehow - maybe we'd learn, after he ingratiated himself to everyone in Springfield, that he accidentally ran Maureen off the road during the storm. And when he realizes this he would, in shame, leave town, maybe leaving some Springfield lady devastated if they were about to get married (this could have worked with a better Mindy recast, or maybe a brand new character).
    • Notes I've made of skipped or faulty YouTube episodes are (I'll put in brackets the faulty ones, the rest are skipped episodes), that would be amazing if they could be replaced by higher quality Netherlands copies when they become available:

S13: 3170, 3172, 3181 (faulty), 3203 (faulty), 3223 (faulty), 3255, 3278 (faulty), 3345, 3361 (faulty) S14: 3399, 3455 (faulty), 3479 (faulty), 3509 (faulty), 3555 (faulty end credits), 3580, 3600 (faulty), 3613 (faulty) S15: 3658 (faulty), 3667, 3668, 3669, 3670, 3674, 3678, 3679, 3681, 3682, 3684, 3685, 3686, 3690, 3692, 3694, 3696, 3697, 3699, 3709 S16: 4058, 4059, 4109 S17: 4137, 4194, 4262, 4284, 4358, 4362, 4371 S18 so far skipped: 4450, 4451. There may be further S18 episodes to replace in English if there are any further skips on YouTube, as many episodes from this season are just in German in the vault, and if they skip those, then we probably have to wait for an eventual Netherlands airing unless someone currently has them in English (currently the German ones needing to replace to full English for S18 are: 4477, 4485, 4486, 4492, 4493, 4494, 4497, 4514, 4515, 4518, 4520, 4522, 4523, 4524, 4526, 4531, 4538, 4541, 4575, 4612 - hopefully YouTube will not skip these, and they won't be a problem to fix). Also, jumping ahead a bit to future seasons, but does anyone have full English speaking copies of any of 4852, 4897, 5275, 5308, 5590, 5591, 5594 (as these are not in full or at all in English in the vault as far as I can tell)? Many thanks if you do! A million thank yous to all Angels helping out with these.
