Am I the only one who thought the announcement was cryptic?  If someone hadn't pointed out that she used the past tense, I don't think that I would've understood the context.  It's a shame that there's no valid soap journalist to do an exit interview.  I bet it would be juicy.

So October or November likely her last airdate.  I am hoping not another Abigail tragedy.  I also hope Shawn, Brandon Beemer isn't gone too.  Maybe they separate or Belle is recast.   Jessica Collins, Alexa Havins are two at the top of my head I can think of who would make a great Belle recast.

Now that was both a juicy and classy exit interview!  Obviously, her foray into HR (Is recruitment HR-related?) has paid off in terms of knowing how to balance those objectives.

My overall take-away is that once again, acting is a humiliating profession.  Can imagine any other job where they tell you that you're fired, but then don't allow you to say goodbye?  It's like if Marty the cashier at Target was let go, but his manager just told his co-workers that he went on a long bathroom break...

I agree with her that Belle should be a more important role on canvas but a big reason for why she isn’t has been the fact MM has never been a good candidate as a leading actress. They tried for years to make her work and it never really clicked until the Chloe/Phillip/Belle/Shawn quad back in 08 before they let her go the first time. Corday should have dumped her and let Kristen Storms come back when she asked right before she went to GH.  I hope they recast with a more interesting actress.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
