Good for her. Mad respect for Ari.

Part of me feels like she may be done at this point, especially if her daughter is living in Reno.

That's the issue with HR and harassment.  If HR had found that Alarr was actually guilty of misconduct, then he would've nullified his contract, and wouldn't need a buy out.  But, if HR was inconclusive and just recommended further training and supervision (as often happens in a first offense in order to limit liability), then it is another story.  We only know the allegations that prompted the investigation, the fact that he admitted to the behavior, and the recommendations from the investigation.

As I read the story, we don't know the conclusion of the HR investigation, probably because it is confidential, but if anyone else has information about their actual findings, that would be interesting.

There is no HR.... 😕

It's sometimes difficult to determine if someone is being intentionally ironic in print, but, of course, there is HR, it just not on site

I apologize if you were just teasing, but I wouldn't want others to mistake your humor for truth

@dragonfliesI believe he said that there wasn't a PR department, although they hired an outside firm to handle the PR after the Deadline article (p.s. they're not doing a great job)

I thought Errol confirmed there is no longer an HR department?

What was said was that DAYS has no HR Dept. & that was why Ken reached out to Sony to do the investigation. And that's true. DAYS has no HR Dept. Apparently Alarr would often make some terrible crack & then say "It sure is lucky we don't have HR!" But then he'd also say, "Just kidding!"

At least one of the other soaps has its own HR dept & also has "intimacy coordinators" who govern love scenes. (Govern may not be the right word.)

What was said, and is true & accurate, about the PR Dept. is that it was Alarr himself who dismantled it & fired those people back in June.

Oy. That reminds me: I've been wasting the last 20 years of my life 😂

LOL. It’s a shame Brash & Cwikly were let go in favor Ken being cheap with Dena, which was a complete disaster and to the point NBC wanted JER back or else. Days at least got be the comeback kid in 2006, 2009-11, and again late 2012-2014 following when most had written off the show as doomed.

But to the point the thought had crossed my mind as well that Peacock could just go ahead and cancel the show as a way to simply put a stop to the conflict altogether. As devastating of a decision as that would be, I wouldn’t be surprised.

lol I probably did mix up PR and HR lmao

O ye of little faith. From the last article on Deadline.com, 8-2:

Quote

"...Our report also included multiple testimonies about Alarr laughing off his improper remarks and mocking the lack of HR presence on the show."

“We’re all adults but there is a line at work, and the flirtation happens often, and it would go with a hug and then a lingering hug and then his famous line; if he said something derogatory or sexual, it always came with a chuckle and ‘A good thing there’s no HR.’ I can’t tell you the amount of times I heard that,” she said. The last comment was relayed to Deadline by some half-dozen people during the interviews conducted for the first story and the follow-up.

Staffers also called out series distributor Sony Pictures Television for the lack of HR support on the Corday Prods. show, detailed in Deadline’s story last week, which has made Alarr the de-facto arbitrator of HR matters on set. A DoOL employee said they had gone without an HR meeting for about four years, with no mechanism to seek help when needed.

References to HR in the articles

Quoting Deadline July 25 article:

According to multiple sources, there is no HR infrastructure where the show tapes in Burbank; any such reps are at Sony TV in Culver City. When NBCUniversal owned the studio complex that houses DoOL at 3000 West Alameda Avenue (then known as NBC Studios), the production had an HR department, an insider said. That changed after the facility was bought by Worthe Real Estate Group in 2014 and renamed Burbank Studios. With no HR reps on set, any issues have had to go to the producers, with Alarr himself most likely to handle.

Alarr, who was praised by actors for his overall directing skills and character development work, allegedly regularly mocked HR conduct standards. According to eyewitnesses, he would chuckle after making inappropriate or offensive remarks in front of cast and crew with a jokey comment about what would happen if HR ever knew about his behavior. If Alarr was called out for saying something that was inappropriate and hurt someone’s feelings, he would dismiss the criticism, insisting it was just a joke.

Alarr: co-executive Producer, one of the directors, recently became coordinator of PR, and shamed anyone who complained, and well ... Did you read the articles?
He dominated the situation.  Nobody felt able to speak.
FINALLY Sony investigated a few months ago but all they did was give Alarr an order to take a sensitivity training class and they didn't fire him.  So the cast and crew spoke anonymously with Deadline.
