A merger story can be interesting every once in awhile, but two mergers at once is over kill. It makes them both mean nothing.

Two seconds after Jill gives Lily the position of a lifetime she announce a merger? There what could have been months of drama of Lily getting into this job. Bring Jill back to mentor her for awhile. Make this look believable.  Instead, they skip right over Lily to get to Devon in charge really. What's the huge rush?

The problem is when she is involved it's not about her life. I find it crazy she has to keep Devon threatening to sue her for that baby, when her husband was sick, a secret from everyone in her family. If my spouse was sick the first place I would go for support is my family. She can't even tell them what she went through now. Her life is really isolated from them now.

Nice Friday cliffhanger. I love Ashley is back for this.

I was expecting for Sharon’s memorial service for Rey to occur today. I wonder if they’ll even show it at all and just tell us what a nice service it was. Lord.

I FF’d all the Billy and Lily scenes lol. From what I read, I didn’t miss anything.

They are at the forefront in the ever changing media landscape.

Headed by Billy Abbott's compelling personal podcast which is creating conversations around entitled rich boy screwups.

Then there is something to do with fashion and selective in depth reportage on goings on in a small mid western town that somehow other parts of the country (and the world?) are enthralled by.

All run from apartments ,restaurants and one office with no staff.

Amelia Heinle is clearly a more accomplished actress than Melissa Ordway, but there’s something similar in their “acting” styles. I just don’t feel a lot of conviction from AH, as if she constantly doesn’t believe the words coming out of her mouth. Maybe that’s a feature, not a bug—as they want to portray Victoria as conflicted, vulnerable to the men in her life, and faking it to make it. I don’t enjoy this characterization.

They are playing Kyle as really “young.” He’s not a boy who needs his family to make choices for him.

The Abbott scenes with Diane were good (Diane dredging up each family member’s past), but as directed, they played as theatrical in a very stiff and flat way.

5-2

Such a build to the Mom and Son reunion.

I see what everyone meant last week. While SW is playing Diane as a haunted woman and is sucking me in for the most part, MM's Kyle has been really off. I felt like he had it when Jack finally tells Kyle Diane is alive, but he was just playing this reunion scene so odd.

oh, they looped back around to Chance. Meh.

I did like the cliffhanger of Victor waiting for Diane.

Enjoyed the Abbott vs Diane scenes today especially when she was allowed to call them out.

I really have blanked out Maura’s run as Diane because I legit don’t remember her being evil. I remember Victor throwing a woman out of an ambulance. I remember her being the town punching bag for breathing. I think she had sex with both Victor and Nick. But I’m blanking on all the evil things she did. I honestly didn’t even know why everyone hated her in the first place, but I don’t know a ton of Diane’s history with Alex Donnelly and Susan playing her. I think Victor and Jack both used to play with her emotions.

I think the Abbott scenes were very good as well. Davidson, Maitland, and even Ordway did good but at the same time the writing is pretty predictable as how each character would react.

It’s interesting because Walters’ haunted performance as Diane is the real driving force and is actually forcing the cast to actually step up for a change. In Mealor’s case, his lack of acting talent is very glaring.

OMG!! Remember when Emily came back as Tucker’s therapist randomly when Patty was plotting to kill Genie Francis?

LOL I understand MAB/Sheffer/Hamner & Co. was awful how they deconstructed Patty and Sharon. Then Pratt made it even worse with making Sharon and Patty roommates at the asylum while their own doctor had a grudge against Nick.  ‍

No wonder Y&R became so lifeless.

Those years really gutted what was left of Y&R. At least what LML hadn’t already destroyed. It’s hard to even really take stock of all the convoluted stories and age-old soap clichés that were burned through in the late 2000s and early-to-mid 2010s. Felt a bit scorched earth. Hard to take Y&R seriously after all of that. Sharon, Nick, Victoria, Victor, Jack, you name ‘em—worn out.

By the way, Alan Sarapa tweetstormed what he thought a Ron Carlivati-written Y&R would feel like. Pretty much a lot like that era with lower production values and more camp.

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
