I have a soft spot for Chandler.  I have always ignored his flaws because I liked him.

Guy Wilson was always so goofy looking to me.  But he had chemistry with Paul for sure.

I don't even know if I'd recast Sonny.  Maybe?  I think the show would be better served getting CS back or recasting Paul.

Pre-pandemic, Precious Way had been cast in a pilot. When the pandemic hit, the pilot was put on hold and she was allowed to sign on as Chanel. The pilot got picked up, so she had to default to her prior engagement. All this brought on the Chanel recast.

Tripp should've been the next gay character in Salem. Wasn't it obvious?

Speaking of Lucas Adams unfortunately he's off the market ladies and gay men

I agree on Chandler.

Guy Wilson had great chemistry with Christopher Sean.

Chandler/Guy feels like Kate Mansi/Marci Miller. Maybe with different writing or direction Guy would come alive more?

I would love CS/Paul back. I miss him.

Sonny can be recast. I like Freddie, and like Chandler, have overlooked his flaws.

Same.

I loved early flavor Wilson.

Something changed and I was all for Will and Paul. Chandler and Christopher seemed to have a bro-mance and you could see they enjoyed each other. Not saying Chandler and Freddie don't but the chemistry wasn't the same at all anymore and Will and Sonny seemed more suited apart, yet still besties.

I'd say Guy Wilson definitely had chemistry with Christopher Sean AND Freddie Smith.

I have to say it royally sucks we have Sami and Lucas on the verge of a reunion (it's probably just a tease knowing Ron), Allie interested in both Chanel and Tripp, and Johnny finally coming to town and WILL IS OFF-SCREEN.

Sigh.

Make it make sense.

Christopher Sean was great.  Such a good find.  And he had one of the worst backstories and retcons ever but he was so charming and wasted a lot.  He had great chemistry with both Will and Sonny.  I still don't buy that John got 3 women pregnant in a span of like a year, but CS really channeled Drake in mannerisms and looks honestly.  He was exactly what I would imagine a child of Tori/John would look and be like.

Chandler vs. Guy will always be Chandler to me.  I do think Guy gave more effort most of the time and had fire chemistry with Paul, but Chandler is my Will for sure.  I think both Guy and Chandler could do a lot more with better writing.   And less Grandpa cardigans....

Yes, less grandpa cardigans please! Remember when they tossed Jack in them around 2011/2012? lol

Chandler is definitely my Will. Looking back I can appreciate Guy's chemistry and his effort at the time but it says it all that his Will could be easily murdered.

Absolutely agreed on Paul/CS. He really made something out of next to nothing. He embraced playing John's son and loved it and it showed. It just ... worked. It shouldn't have but it did. Such a credit to CS, and even Drake, IMO.

Drake did really well with it too.  I wish John would mention Paul more.  He is literally the least obnoxious of all his children.   Blah, blah Belle and Brady.  Paul is still the coolest child. I would be okay with a recast but I think CS was given crap to play and made it his own so I don't know how it would go over.  There was just something very authentic about the way CS played Paul with everyone he was involved with.

I feel the same with Guy.  He clearly was trying and giving it his all, but he was always just FAUXWill to me.  He wasn't a disaster.  He was just there for me.  I do think he would have been better served completely away from Sonny though at least for awhile.

Yup

Guy's Will worked with Paul be because he was his little twink lover. Paul was the mature guy of the two.

Chandler Will was never a slut playing around which he should've been and I think that's why many loved his cheating again on Sonny with Paul.

Sonny and Will stop working for me because Will was the one always apologizing to a hurt Sonny when he was responsible for the situation. Sonny was a pompous a$$ to Will and he always forgave him.

    • Yes, I think that is the most likely situation.  TPTB were unhappy with the offer(s) they got from the tourism board in Finland, and decided the trip was going to be too expensive for P&G/NBC to finance alone.   I would also speculate a similar situation occurred a few years later with the planned location shoot in Egypt, which was also cancelled after the storyline had already started, and changed to Arizona.

    • In my usual account on my most used video hosting site with the video title  DAYS 1-8-15 Will & Paul Sex This is an edit I began when I was first teaching myself to edit & at that time I couldn't make it do what I wanted it to do. I pulled it up & finished it this morning.
    • Or Megan is shot as retaliation for Dave's unpaid gambling debts...while Julie confesses she's the biological mother of Special Guest Star Barry Bostwick's little boy.
    • Finland seemed such an odd choice for a location shoot. ATWT went to Greece and later Spain while GL had Tenerife and there were others in that timeframe. But Finland not being a known tourist destination or offering the tropical/sunny atmosphere usually associated with location shoots seems off brand. Maybe they were negotiating a deal with a tourist association and it fell through.
    • I was talking about 1986, but the glimpses of 1982 are about the same.
    • I skimmed some of the 1982 synopses; Steve was planning on an opening an office in Finland, and I think Jim went there as part of the preparation. That probably was a big issue; AW had already gone to San Diego that year, with Rachel/Steve/Mitch. And to upstate NY with Pete and Diana. I wonder if upstate was as expensive lol  AW in 1982 has always fascinated me, because of how messy it was
    • That makes sense. What a messy time for the show. And any changes they made were mostly for the worse.
    • The transition from Neal to Adam was very abrupt, and to be honest my theory is that the character of Neal was designed so that we think he is super shady but then it turns out that he was on the side of good all along so Neal could have seamlessly become a hero of the BCPD with no need for Adam. I don't know whether Robert Lupone was hired on a short contract or if he was fired from a longer-term contract because they decided they wanted someone who was more of a leading man type, but I can imagine a scenario where Charles Grant did both the undercover Egyptian treasure/flirt with Victoria and the straighter-arrow day to day police investigation. But in my imagined scenario the MJ prostitution plotline probably doesn't exist and instead he probably continues a relationship with Victoria. The story seems very odd to me. I assume that David Canary would have been included only because a plotline where Steve is going to Finland in which only Rachel is seen in actual Finland seems unlikely. The synopses explicitly mention that Alice can't go with Steve but would whoever was playing Alice at that time have had the kind of clout to get the remote cancelled? It also strikes me as unlikely that production would have approved the expensive location shoot and *then* cancelled it only because of jealousy. It seems more likely that they rejected it because of the expense but then the jealousy part got added to the gossip speculatively, possibly because while it was being worked out they justified not including more castmembers because of the expense.
    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.  I'm sure the writers sent Jim on an extended trip (and off-screen) because of Marlowe's illness.  But Finland seems like a strange choice considering the (then) recently cancelled location shoot.
