She said she doesn't enjoy firing people. I nearly gagged. She doesn't have a problem firing Genie Francis.

She basically confirmed a lot of the rumors I'd heard internally about her time on Y&R, what she was tasked to do, how much the network pushed back, and what they changed after they fired her. Good riddance.

Jill needed to be the EP of a brand new soap.

Because she had all these ideas that on paper sounded like they would work, but they were implemented horribly and completely changed already established shows that didn't need to be changed. Updated maybe, but not completely changed like they were. AW did not have to become ER or Hill Street Blues. With a brand new soap, if you're the one creating the style you don't have that problem.

I think she might have been okay at a soap like Sunset Beach, or even Passions.

Wasn't she the EP on the Nickelodeon soap, Hollywood Heights? She had her shot and blew it.

And SB was practically the newest show on the block when she was made EP and she blew that too.

I get that the network influences a lot of decisions, but Jill needs to take accountability for her decades of flops too. She should've stuck to being a music director at the end of the day. She is good at that.

We know a soap of hers would feature the mob and the hospital set to the opening theme of ER/NYPD Blue/Chicago Hope in a working class setting.

In all honesty, JFP doesn't have the emotional connection to these shows we have from growing up watching them. True, I'm sure dealing with networks must be hell, however, you don't change the show's overall tone. You actually see what can be used from the past and update to the present.

Well tbh, I didn't even know Hollywood Heights existed until today lol

But the thing is with a new soap, you don't risk alienating any fans

I actually think those are good ideas, just not on a long running soap that's never been in that style before

Timothy Gibbs would be the eldest son dealing with alcoholism.

Robin Christopher would either play the cynical eldest daughter or the vampish other woman.

And John Bolger would play the corrupt police chief who is straddling both sides.

    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.
