So odd that I went down a Diane Ladd rabbit hole last night. Incredible actress. R.I.P.

Diane was a true piece of Southern pride even as so much of the worst is what gets showcased. Truly special. Any time I saw her I took notice. She never had the film opportunities she deserved yet was so suited to that big screen - it's one of many reasons her run on Alice didn't work.

When I watched Rambling Rose a few years ago, I had very mixed feelings, but Diane was the standout. There's a scene where she refuses to let the doctor "cure" the oversexed, troubled Rose by giving her a full hysterectomy. That scene alone likely got her her last, well-earned Oscar nomination.

Both "Flo" actresses are gone within two months of each other and less than a year after Linda passed. When you can only ever imagine these people as being so vivacious and fun, it's so heartbreaking to know they are no longer here.

I agree.  I think I felt the same way when we suddenly lost the rest of the cast of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in a very short span of time.

@Vee Thanks. That was beautiful. Describes David as well as anything ever could.

I saw in one of her obits that David said she initially struggled with using any of his dialogue rather than improv-ing, but when she finally did, they had magic.

Bruce Dern said he credits David for Diane being rediscovered.

Their passings are very somber bookends for this year.

Oscar nominated actress Pauline Collins, who portrayed the iconic Shirley Valentine, has passed away...

Another piece of "Upstairs Downstairs" gone.....   :(  There aren't that many left now, and every time one of them goes a little piece of my heart goes with them.

To think: without him (and Francis Crick), there'd be no endless WTD? DNA test segments on "Maury."
