I think I had most of Three Dog Night's songs on vinyl.

Very sad but not surprising given his condition. Just an awful thing.

I grew up on Dawson's Creek and this is a gut punch. Expected, but still so sad. Rest easy, James.

Sorry to hear about James...and so many others we've lost lately. I never watched Dawson's on a regular basis, so this may be the bit I enjoyed him most in. It's from when he hosted SNL:

@janea4old Thanks for all your links. I love the Fifth Dimension and Three Dog Night, I listen to so many of their songs to help get through life - Out in the Country, Up, Up and Away, Wedding Bell Blues, etc.

Same

I was hoping he would beat it or be with us a little bit longer.

All seasons of Dawson's Creek are streaming on Tubi.

I started watching when the news first broke of his condition and it's been delightful watching him and also finally seeing the show through adult eyes lol. I really thought he was going to beat it.

RIP.

Oddly, I know James Van Der Beek best from his guest role on the series finale of Law & Order: Criminal Intent when he played an ex-pornographer, of all things, and he seemed to have a blast playing someone so sleazy.

Forty-eight is too damned young to go. May James Van Der Beek rest in peace.

Lord...I don't know what to say besides Frak cancer.

My co-worker and I have been talking teen shows for the last two weeks. Katie Holmes is set to be here in San Diego to do the Old Globe's performance of Hedda Gabler. Because she grew up on Dawson's Creek. As did I...though with the original music. As an artist, I could totally relate to Dawson wanting to follow his dream and James played him as such a person even when he was frustrating. And it was good to see James always go for other roles NOT Dawson-like. After all, he was Evan Peters's arrogant, but oh so '80s boss in the first season of the show POSE.

I hoped he would make it so it does hurt. RIP.

I am definitely of the Dawson’s generation. During the original run, I was too young to care about it, but it was everywhere, and so by the time I started high school, I had my VCR set to record the TBS reruns every morning. I’ve said it before, but I love TV shows that give us a world that I want to live in. Dawson’s did that in spades, and so much of it was due to JVDB’s energy. It’s just devastating to think of someone so closely associated with youth now no longer here.

I always get emotional when I see the final montage from the series finale, but now, it’ll hit even harder.
