@Soapsuds Thank you for the info re 1993 and 1994 As the World Turns.

The show started falling apart story wise and in the ratings in April of 1994 when Marland bible ran out. The show truly never recovered after it.

I don't think As the World Turns limped along in its final 16 years though.

"One thing, of course, is that the show [ATWT] was still reeling from Douglas Marland's sudden death in March 1993." - Lynn Liccardo

That's a quote from her book. I've seen many people express that sentiment. I think I agree with it. In a way I think that AW never fully recovered from the sudden, unexpected & untimely death of Douglas Watson. Marland, same thing, in a way.

ATWT still had a lot of potential post-Marland, but P&G kept hiring hacks.

Would it  have been the same? Of course not,  but P&G gave up long before these shows were cancelled.

P&G - in general - about AW & ATWT & GL - had way too much turnover & shied away from hiring really great people, with a few exceptions. Plus, they were so enamored of promoting from within.

It's gonna be nice to see Days' rise from week to week.

Interesting how there wasn't really any change in JER's first few months

Right now we only have up to end of 1993, but should be getting more years later on this year!

When was "Buried Alive??  Okay, looked it up. 1992. So, hmm, I thought they knew they had a tiger by the tail as of that! Guess not. Okay, another source says early October 1993. That sounds much much more right.

It worked 😂😂

I wonder if AW got any kind of bump around this time. Vicky and Ryan's reunion at the train station in Switzerland was coming in a few weeks.
