Yep.  After all, they see us as interchangeable -- meaning, of course, "we all look alike" -- so why not?

No, no, no.  Black folks are HERE for Victor, and Victor alone.  Sharon and Victoria, we could take-or-leave.

Yep, Ana and Hilary are totally different lanes as personalities, but since they are black, TPTB see them as sharing the same slot. Yet they see no problem with Chelsea and Chloe both being back. They don’t even see story potential in what a potential Hilary return would mean for Devon’s family.

Soaps, as broadcast networks have conceived them historically and currently, are about white people, period. In a country with quickly changing demographics, it’s stupid, but I think TPTB realize there’s no future for the genre. It’s a relic of a different time that they’re content to ride out until an affordable alternative comes along.

Absolutely, and that pisses me off. Dru and Olivia were so different. Yet, both had such a valuable place on the canvas. Olivia, a dedicated doctor -- a little more set in her ways. Dru, a free spirit who took the show by storm. A ying and yang that brought so much together and separately.

Lazy ass writers.

And by giving this excuse of not knowing what to do with her creatively, they also come off looking incompetent IMO. There are already several people, including black viewers who think that soaps, don't know how to write for black characters. This type of claim basically verifies people's thoughts (unless the show/writers are lying, which I think they probably are). The writers and the show look awful here. It didn't take a lot of effort to write for Ana. Fen was right there, to be paired in a romance. They could have continued with the Theo mentor storyline. Rey is about to be single, they could have done a romance with him.

Heck, if they wanted to do something that could have provided conflict, they could have even paired her with Cane. He's single & that would have caused quite a bit of a ruckus in the Winters family. Especially considering that Devon doesn't care for Cane & was upset about him cheating on Lily again. Now granted, that storyline might not appeal to a lot of people, especially people that don't like Cane. However, that was an option. It's utter BS that they couldn't think of anything to write for Ana.

😂 yep!

It’s crazy that an actor who brazenly tanked a story, is not getting any younger, plays a character with no connections, is neither particularly talented nor extraordinarily beautiful, and fills a slot currently occupied by several other actors is not considered expendable. Clearly they can imagine using him and are being patient, figuring that the story will come. Too bad they never extended the same patience to Loren, who could have thrived in several different stories.

I hope the execs in charge at Y&R don’t wonder why the ratings are sinking faster than the titanic. It’s so clear that their stupid decision making such as this is why viewers are tuning out.

They told this young woman in so many words "we are spending the money or worthy characters/actors".  That's pretty despicable!  I would have felt humiliated.

In an indirect way, they're using their sinking ratings to justify further diminishing the black cast, rather than looking at the current situation of the overall show and trying to fix what's clearly not working.

Anyway, the record low ratings will continue from what I can see...

The “we couldn’t come up with a story” excuse, pathetic as it is, is likely a smokescreen. The real reason is probably more “we couldn’t be bothered.”

Another issue I have in addition to the "we couldn't come up with a creative story excuse"  lies with the show saying they needed to free up money. Not only is the show bringing back/adding a bunch of unnecessary characters (like IMO Kevin, Chloe, Chelsea), but they keep adding new sets. Phyllis is building a new hotel that will include a new restaurant in it, that Abby will launch. I believe this will turn into a new, large and costly set.

Abby said she wants to expand society and Phyllis is already planning to build the hotel and restaurant and launch an opening for it. And IMO, it's not needed. Just like the Dark Horse set wasn't needed and hasn't been utilized much. These large, costly and unnecessary sets are not needed and that money could be used to help retain talent like Loren.

Who does have a story though? Only Adam does and that's been told so many times already. No one else on the canvas has a storyline and that's because Griffith is an atrocious HW.
