Even before I heard about this pregnancy storyline, I had a feeling that Mia wouldn't be long for the GC canvas, it was less about how it was done.  Building a family based on a weakly written character was always going to be a roll of the dice, on a show with a certain budget, some of these characters were destined to leave.

From what folks posted on Twitter, she seemed like the Rosales to keep.

Too bad that YR is still stuck in the 60s.  TIIC will force you to love the white vixens even if they don't have what it takes too carry a story or show!  Oh well.

Y&R will always make room for the next white male character though.

Had they truly cared about having Mia on the show long term, they would've made her a sustainable character capable of entering the scene on her own (a la Nina Webster) instead of 'glomming' her onto a marginal character who barely got interest to begin with.

I'd read about that.  I guess that could be it too, in terms of what sends her away.

They're getting rid of everyone too quickly.  I may not have liked marlands writing..but one rule he had was to not get rid of characters so quickly.

She could have been kept and tested with other characters since she was a Gonzales by marriage only.

I liked the Rosales family.  Arturo was actually my least favorite after the others were introduced.  It's an unpopular opinion but you have to move on to new families at some point or at least move on to descendants of the core families.  I can't take more years of Victor/Nikki and Victor vs. Jack and Victor finding new ways to torture people to protect the familehhhhhh.  I think a Latino family was a decent idea, given the popularity still of Soaps in the Hispanic community...the could have been introduced more slowly but, it is what it is.  I don't think jettisoning people left and right without exploring their chemistry more is a great idea.

The biggest issue with the Rosales is that TPTB made the deliberate decision to replace Winters family with them.

which doesn't make sense being that soaps are still very popular with the Black community.

This isn't something I'm making up or assuming. I got this from folks who would know. And this came to me before KSJs death or Lily's incarceration. Note that the show continued on with that plan. Now they are just also downsizing rosales...for now.

Angelica wants a Latino family on the show. The family was her baby. Mal was just trying to make her happy.

    • Welcome back, Will and Eric!  They were both used so well today. I’m so glad that they’re going to be here for Marlena and everybody. She definitely needs them. And I love that we got a flashback of Will and John, and that Will credits him as the reason that he’s so courageous. Hopefully, he has scenes with Arianna coming up, and possibly Doug III. I think there’s a storyline there, especially considering what Will said about her being so stubborn and also a little similar to John. Btw, even though Chandler Massey is technically old enough to have an 18 year old child, he definitely doesn’t look it lol  And we got a Will and Paul reunion too. It really is too bad that we can’t get them full time. There’s still so much drama that can be mined from the two of them, and their relationships with Sonny and Andrew, especially now. But with Leo still slithering around, I guess it’s for the best that we’re not getting that

And I love that Will was there for Johnny too. We never really got to see their relationship on screen and I’m glad that we got some of it today. I wish their scenes had been a little longer though. There’s a lot more that they need to discuss about EJ and the rape. But I like that Will comforted him about whether or not he was worthy of having John’s name. And that Marlena was able to shrink him about leaving EJ in the square after he fell.  Eric’s reunion with everybody was really sweet too. I loved the dorky family moment Belle is still being a total douche but I like the drama of her storyline. And I do think that she isn’t being completely stupid, when it comes to EJ. I’m glad that she has Brady though, who was also used very well today. He was breaking my heart in the scene where he was at John’s bedside.  And, congratulations EJ. I think lol  But I have to say, all this talk about John’s miraculous recovery is a little tough to here And, the final scene with John and Marlena
    • Reva should have had a stroke...leaving her permanently MUTE.  Not able to utter a single sound, not even the slightest blubber or gurgle.

And shakin’ me up so, that all I really know is here you come again… and here I go  Enjoy, @Soapsuds
    • I'm still hoping that Leslie turns out to be Sharon's daughter. As I think it could bring another dynamic to the show and the Duprees eventually will need a rival family.

I said Dorian Harewood on Twitter would be good for Dante Green too.

    • Could Nikki just be a big Gram Parsons fan? I think it works for Julie, but they should be doing better by Traci - none of this, from hair to wardrobe, is flattering.
    • To be fair, I don't think she was written out as much as not being written for as they had to gear up for the final episode. I'd assume they might've had the option to use her again but they just didn't find the space.
    • Seems Traci and Julie on Days are both shopping at 'Granny's Garments'. You just can't go wrong with a loose print long line jacket (hides those figure faults, gals), a comfy pair of slacks, a scoop neck T and some chunky accent jewelry. And don't forget your crowning glory-a wash 'n' go hair do.
