Thanks, I have an account on there but I couldn't figure out how to get the pics to post properly. Figured it out now. So here they are; Days, Y&R and H&A:

Such a massive difference in quality between the shows.

Note to Y&R set dressers. Billionaires don't have cheap mass produced wall decorations and prints in their penthouses...

Days used to look even more yellow 13 years ago and Y&R's lighting has been bright, harsh, and unyielding since the switch to HD... it used to be much better. I almost get the feeling that all these shows are still using the same light settings and makeup regimen they used with the pre-HD cameras.

Days looked halfway good when Ed Scott was producing in '07-08.

Which wouldn't even be an issue if soaps weren't 90% populated by millionaires and billionaires.

Who travel with no security, have the phone numbers of simple baristos, and only deal with paparazzi when it's storyline convenient, though I'm most willing to let the last one fly.

Who live in small towns, never travel or have other homes around the world, live in tiny houses, run huge businesses by themselves, etc

And every single person is capable of running a business, not only that but every woman can and wants to be a designer!

In the case B&B, you can do a fashion show with 4 or 5 models, none of whom are over 5'4"!

I seriously hate the business takeover of soaps in the 80s. It may have worked at the time, but it became overkill on virtually every single show.

I just think it's better when people from all walks of life are featured. It would also be really nice to see someone struggling financially, living a tiny apartment and just dealing with it.

At the end of the day, that’s all that these shows can credibly portray with their budgets right now.

Tiny, stupid sets yes, but no one is actually struggling financially.

Right. Exactly. You have all of these millionaires/billionaires living these modest lives because the shows can’t pay for more. Nothing about these wealthy, lavish lives feels credible.

Do you remember the Bauer family home on TGL in the 1980s? The set was HUGE. And gorgeous!

The 1990’s was the last time I remember levels of wealth being used in the storytelling.

Every show had something like a major tycoon, and also doctors, nurses, cops, and then things like wait staff, people that ran nightclubs etc.

It was a big deal for someone like Bobbie to go to a party at the Quartermaines, because she wanted a better life than she had growing up.  Luke was always hustling, from mob to disco to club owner to marrying Tracy for her money.

I don’t think having Spaulding Industries or Jabot storylines was the problem.  The problem became that everyone either had money, or just didn’t talk about not having money.  They only had jobs if it was at a major corporation, not really investing in things like Kelly’s or the diner on GL.
