My mother says that a former colleague of hers named her daughter Heather Brooke, after Heather on GH and Brooke on AMC.  ("Which is ironic, since she was a Y&R fan," I replied.  Mama Khan didn't get the joke.)

I was named after Brandon Capwell on Santa Barbara 

Noel is a male name that has hardly been used.

 

Love of Life had a character in the 50's and Edge in the 70's and that's about it.

Regina, anyone? I always thought it'd be the perfect name for an OTT diva. If memory serves, though, Gina on Santa Barbara wasn't short for anything.

I guess I’m thankful I have a soap name too, (Taylor) but I definitely wasn’t named after the Taylor on B&B even if my mom watched back then, lol 

Has there been a popular character who has gone by the name Anastasia? That just screams soap to me. On soaps, it’s usually shortened like Quint’s daughter Stacey on GL or Ana on Y&R.

It sounds a lot like a name that would've been used on Passions.

I do appreciate their deliberate attempt to use names that were not common on soaps. Valerie and Esme are my favorites. I know ATWT had a Valerie in the 70s, but have there been any other major Vals (not looking at you, Mrs. Ewing...).

Valerie Grant on DAYS is the only other one I can think of.
