It's funny. ABC, The Daily Beast, and Reuters all played into the deflection, touting stories like "Kevin Spacey comes out in emotional tweet." Only after Twitter backlash did they change their headlines.

It just makes you realize how much celebrities and their PR minions could get away with before social media started keeping journalists honest.

It'll blow up. There will as many stories for him as there were for Weinstein and James Toback. Everyone wants to say that Weinstein was an open secret or whatever, but this one- both his behaviour and him being gay- was an even bigger one.

Anyway, back when I worked at a television station, he invited one of my work colleagues to his hotel room for a "private party" and then, not three days later, he tried to pull the same thing on my brother's boyfriend when we ran into him at a club. He's gross and everybody and their mother has a story about him.

There's three or four other people in Hollywood that I know of who have to be sweating bullets right now.

Sorry, I'm not sure why this font is so large.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/theatre-dance/news/kevin-spacey-allegations-sexual-harassment-apology-anthony-rapp-london-director-a8026986.html

As part of a discussion on sexual misconduct on Radio 4's Today, Victoria Featherstone, artistic director of the Royal Court Theatre, was asked whether she was aware of any stories about Spacey when he was working in London, as artistic director of the Old Vic.

"I think that many people in the theatre and in the creative industries have been aware of many stories of many people over a lot of years, and Kevin Spacey would be one of the people that people have had concerns about, yes," she said.

I know there are supposed to be a slew of stories from young men in the British theater community about Spacey, going back years. Again, his history of creeping on young guys - sometimes str8, often PAs or interns - goes back a long way in the gay world. There were stories about him wanting guys found for him in DC while filming HOC.

It was not until getting social media did I even start to hear vague insinuations about Spacey's sexual predilections (and others) because I've only started paying attention to anything besides the technical part of filmmaking.  Pretty cloistered, I know.

Having read that Buzzfeed article, I applaud Mr. Rapp for discussing his experience.  On a positive note, I haven't seen signs of victim shaming and blaming and I hope this marks an end to the criticizing of victims for when they decide to come forward.

Spacey's response reeks of the guise of superficial concern for the victim but smacks of mostly concern for his own career and professional legacy. That 'coming out' addendum was a move borne of cynicism.  From what I've seen though, it looks as though he's getting his comeuppance from the LGTBQ community.

As for HOC, I thought the series should have ended about two seasons ago, although I admit that last season was surprisingly entertaining.

I do think that the next season should be its last.

It is only right that the final season begin with Francis Underwood in federal prison where the audience only hears of him but doesn't see him. At all.

We see Claire Underwood attempt to hold on to power herself but as Frank's crimes are revealed one by one, it causes an insurmountable political crisis which ultimately causes Claire's fall from power in the end.

And that should be the end.

The Annabella Sciorra story is particularly horrible. She was raped in her own home, in her own bedroom. She still sleeps with a baseball bat by her bed. And Harvey Wankstain spent 5 days in sex rehab, is now 'cured' and back in Hollywood, making preparations to get back to producing and take down all the people who spoke against him! Why is he not being charged? Why is there no class-action lawsuit being brought against him? The only good thing about this is that it is triggering a domino effect in other industries and other parts of the world, where people are seizing the momentum and speaking out about their experiences with attempted rape and sexual coercion. I hope peole do not stop exposing these bullies, rapists and abusers, and their accomplices.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Val Kilmer reveal years ago that his and Spacey's friendship broke apart after Spacey borrowed money from his mother and never paid her back?  Or was it the other way around (Kilmer borrowed the dough from Spacey's mom and never paid it back)?  Anyway, reading about this brought that incident to mind.

What pisses me off about this (aside from Spacey's deplorable behavior that evening) is that this will likely fuel the paranoia many homophobes have against gay men (namely, that they're all depraved individuals who think nothing of raping underaged boys).

My guess?  It'll blow up.  Others will come forward about Spacey.  And yes, I agree, "House of Cards" will fold.

You know, it wasn't enough for Spacey just to apologize for the incident.  No, the preening s.o.b. had to try for another Oscar-worthy performance and drop a bombshell that, frankly, wasn't a bombshell.  (If you are shocked that Kevin Spacey is gay, then congratulations for emerging from your coma.)  On the one hand, I GUESS I should applaud his coming out (even if, again, just about everyone knew already). But, OTOH, part of me feels that that is TOTALLY beside the point.  The fact that Kevin Spacey is out of the closet now does not and should not, in any way, mitigate what he did to Anthony Rapp and Lord knows who else.

Oh, well.

I'm just proud of Rapp for finding the courage to talk about this incident after living with it for so long.

That's what troubled me too. The segue from "I was drunk! I don't remember. If I did do anything, I'm sorry. BTW, I'm gay! Hope that explains things." He is using the coming out story both as a way to distract from the allegation and also to suggest cause and effect.

You know...this is the kind of [!@#$%^&*] that caused people to create the Hays Office back in the day.  IJS.

Don't worry.  As we speak, he's still packing his bags and finding good homes for all his pets.

Yup.

    • Justine had a lot of hooey in it, but she was an actual woman, not a guy in drag. She was a doppelganger of Rachel, French, having had a past history with Carl, etc. Two of the more outrageous parts-Justine bricking alive Vicky into a wall & Justine grinding the gears driving a big rig.
    • Hehe, twi/x actually x, formerly Twitter. Typically I find 2 sources for "crazy fan rumors" - the wrong parts of FB and x. Oy.
    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html
    • My bad….ill fix that  Fixed
    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
