Benny was always a big fan of folk music, and after ABBA he collaborated with a group of Swedish folk musicians called Orsa Spelmän. They enjoyed it so much that they decided to start a band, which became Benny Anderssons Orkester. They invited other musicians, including Helen Sjöholm, the star of Benny's and Björn's musical "Kristina från Duvemåla" and she became their lead singer. Later Tommy Körberg, another big musical star here, joined as well. (He originated the role of Anatoly in "Chess" in London)

The band started in 2001 and immediately became very popular in Sweden. Most of the musicians have other jobs, many in theatrical orchestras in Stockholm, and BAO (as it's called) is a sideproject for them. They usually come together during the summer and go on tour and attract huge crowds.

So far they've released 10 albums and all but one have reached the top 5 in the Swedish charts, the one who missed peaked at #6. They've also had five #1s on the radio chart Svensktoppen, and one of their songs, "Du är min man" stayed on the chart for 278 weeks and spent 65 of those at #1.

This is probably the most ABBA-like of the songs Benny and Björn (who writes the lyrics, but is otherwise not a member of the band) have written for BAO.

And here with English lyrics.

Thank you so much. Loved it. Tommy Körberg is amazing and now I must find all his music. New music discovered is the best. It is amazing how much ABBA and especially the work of Ulvaeus and Andersson have been the soundtrack of my life.

Ah, Chess- had the cassette of the concept album and played it incessantly.  There is a concert on YouTube  from 1989 performed in Sweden with Körberg, Murray Head, Sissel Kyrkjebo, and Judy Kuhn that is phenomenal.

This performance by Tommy Körberg always gives me goosebumps. (Sissel on the other hand suffers a bit since the song is in the wrong key for her. She has a breathtakingly beautiful crystal-clear soprano voice normally)

I went to see Chess when it was produced in Stockholm in 2002, with Tommy again as Anatoly, and Helen Sjöholm as Florence. This performance is from a concert though, not the stage production.

    • It will be amazing if we could record the skipped episodes. Did someone sent a list of the skipped youtube episodes to the guys that are filling in the gaps?
    •   I don't think they ever wanted Sprina to be popular and I don't think they will bring Spencer back until Trina is gone. They've worked hard to marginalize their black cast, and that is only increasing. Trina/Gio could have been an interesting relationship, but they would rather just whittle that character away and then write her out.
    • Daytime belonged to CBS. They would have been making a lot of $$$ with that lineup. For context, this is the lineup at that time. Only one soap on ABC (GH) and NBC (TD) which was still an anthology at that point. So it wasn't until the opposition added more soaps that they became competitive. NBC CBS ABC 10:00am Say When! • Per recent Twitch live: Wraps filming his new film on Friday. Begins a new film on May 19. Will resume regular Twitch streams soon. Has a lot of projects coming out later this year. His current project has kept him in Tennessee longer than he was meant to be.
    • Has BTG been using flashbacks much? Of course, as a new show there aren't many f/b worthy moments but I think they can get by w/o having to use/recreate the Leslie reveal scene. What other 'soap' tropes have they employed or ignored so far? We've talked about the lack of traditional cliffhangers with lingering camera shots. They have done a couple of fantasy scenes. Has anyone apart from Dana had talk to themselves scenes? Montages?
    • Thank You!!! @rsclassicfanforever and to anyone else who contributed to the vaults over the years. I have dipped in/out and gotten my life watching Y&R early years. I never would had the appreciation for characters like Lorie Brooks if not for the Vaults, so again, Thanks.
    • Another lot of skipped episodes to look forward to when the time comes on Videoland. So annoying. They have skipped so many, especially in  season 15 where they skipped 19 episodes throughout the season. Is it just me or is the vault down? It's like a different error message this time so it's hard to know if it's me this time.
    • thank you for uploading the rest of season 12!!! I hope i can get them soon the links down! Thank you again for posting the B&B classic episodes to revisit!!!!
    • Hmm, okay.  BTW, my only problem with Kai & the surgery story is where is this guy's family? And, another BTW, I think I may have inadvertently added to that rumor from last year about a male descendant of Justus Ward. You see, that is an idea I could really get behind! Like I would pay to see those scenes. And, true, I did hear it ... [sheepish grin]
