Wow, there are a few surprises here: Keri Russell, Kit Herrington, Maisie Williams, Unreal.

I don't understand why they keep nominating Kevin Macey.

They completely snubbed Orange Is The New Black? Or is it outside the eligibility period?

Same old undeserved GoT nominations (aside from Lena Headey, who does deserve hers). The only new one is Kit Harington, who is more than capable and an underrated talent, but I can't say I'd call him Emmy-worthy. I also have no idea how he is supporting. The people who deserve nominations from that show never got them and never will.

At least this time they managed to not nominate Diana Rigg for popping up in three scenes and delivering arch "witty" one-liners before disappearing again.

!@#$%^&*] yes! The Americans! Finally, the little show that could! The cast and showrunners - especially Russell and Rhys - are unbelievable and both should take it.

That being said, Sophie Turner was robbed at GOT. They've frontburnered her while Maisie had relatively little this year, but she's more popular with the voting pool.

I don't watch The Americans but I love Keri Russell. Congrats to her!   So happy to see Constance Zimmer from UnReal get a nod, too. Well-deserved.

WTG RuPaul! That's awesome. I also enjoyed so many of the performances on The People vs. OJ Simpson (yay Sarah Paulson!) so I'm glad to see such a fantastic turnout for them.

Sarah Paulson has been slaying on AHS for years, and her Marsha Clark was outstanding.   Constance Zimmer has been giving outstanding performances for years, glad to see her in the mix.

Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys have been doing Emmy worthy work from the beginning. I've watched the slow burn of each episode from the first. My late father never missed an episode.

Meh to Turner.

Keri's nomination is great though. It couldn't have happened for a better actress. She's been great 1998 with Felicity, and she has so many well done lived in, consistent and sensitively thought out performances through out her career: Waitress, August Rush, Austenland, etc. She's a phenomenally under sung talent.

Forever rolling my eyes at the fact that Shameless still submits for comedy and that William H. Macy is the only performer that the nominators seem to notice or care about. I'd rather the show just be shut out every year than get represented by the quintessential "Oh, we know him and like him" nom.

    • Someone has been posted episodes from 1994 and Jill Powell (Marcy Lafferty) has a hot storyline right now. Just googled her and in real-life she is now openly out as a Lesbian with a transgender son.

    • Cast changes in 2025 (so far, not much has happened): GZSZ Pauline Afaja (Flo Kästner) departed on March 10th, 2025. She had only been on the show for about a year. Flo as a character never really clicked with the audience. Her final storyline involved her catching feelings for the much older Nina Reichelt Klee Ahrens Navarro out of the blue – while she was in a relationship with the wheelchair-bound Jonas Seefeld. Onno Buß joined the cast as Julian Kaltenbach on January 31st, 2025. Julian is Matilda's twin brother ... and another illegitimate child of Jo Gerner. Charlott Reschke, who had played Johanna Flemming on a recurring basis from 2015 to 2024, returned at the end of May. The 20-year old actress has now been placed on contract. Last week on GZSZ:

    • Not to ramble too far off topic but it happens a lot with comics too, especially only wanting to keep cheap talent around and pushing out creative voices. There are some patches where creatives can go to start their own worlds...wish that was true with soaps, but who knows, maybe it can happen someday. I never thought we'd get a new soap this year.
    • Very true & also at least in the case of stand-out HWs, it is fraught with exhaustion & burnout.
    • Plus we are never going to have a Shonda Rhimes, a Dick Wolf, or a Chuck Lorre of daytime -- a single brilliant person who could come in and change the genre -- because Shonda, Dick, or Chuck would only be able to work on one soap opera at a time, not three or four at the same time as they do in primetime.  As long as TPTB insist on the 60-minute format, we will never have another super influential individual like Phillips, Nixon, or Bell.  They simply would never have time to do more than one soap opera at a time and that would stifle their influence overall. Thanks. So maybe this is happening to some degree in other entertainment genres.  I don't keep up with the particular franchises you mentioned, so I was unaware.  I appreciate your perspective.
