This is Sasha's mother?  Ha, Jackee would be fun... Sandra Clark vs. Thelma Frye.

LOL Jamey Giddons said Jackee too....I would kill to see that!

The mother needs to give up thot vibes so no to some of these choices. Id rather she be early 50s (or at least look it) and look younger and more poppin than Viv.

 

Victoria Rowell would have been the perfect choice but she ruined that

Lisa Raye.  There's a physical resemblance.  I could see Pam Grier as the grandmother.

Queen Telma Hopkins. She used to crack me up as Phyllis on Half & Half, who I'd picture Lucy being a lot like. Plus, I'd love to see Telma and Obba Babatunde play off each other again b/c they had stellar chemistry as bitter exes.

I think the *idea* of Sasha's mother skews younger, but it's always dramatically more interesting when the mate steps out with a side piece who makes you wonder why, or what were you missing in your marriage that you'd go for who for all intents and purposes you already have, so I'm hip to all of these suggestions.  I'm mostly interested in the most original, non-predictable approach.

theres enough roles for Caucasian actresses in daytime. I prefer they keep the Avant clan African American especially since this is the first time the show has really done a black family. People are just throwing out any random black actress but I do think they should cast someone that looks like she could be her mother. Someone with lighter skin would work

Listen, if America could buy Berlinda Tolbert as Franklin Cover's onscreen daughter on "The Jeffersons," they could buy Sasha coming from two dark-skinned AA's.
