November 25, 201510 yr Member I know this is going to come across as petulant but I really hate the fact that the show is gone and that means neither the actor nor the characters will get the farewell and tributes he/they deserved. There should be a whole week of flashbacks and memories. There should be people returning to the show to say goodbye: Skye, JR, Haley, and Marian. There should be scenes of Brooke and Erica and Dixie and Marcy Walker's Liza talking about him even as they gently snipe at each other. I want flashbacks of scenes with Phoebe and Myrtle and Palmer. I thought about this post when I woke up this morning and it made me even more sad. Having the shows still around always softens the blows of deaths like these because we usually get a tribute episode where we get to kind of get out the mourning but with AMC gone we won't even get that.
November 25, 201510 yr Member I think Adam's death would have been a huge storyline all on its own, setting up lots of new dynamics. His departure in 2010 gave us several good months of the JR/Scott/Annie/Marissa stuff. Now that it's a few years later, there's no telling what the set-up would be like.
November 25, 201510 yr Member Canary was a great actor on both AMC and AW. While he was playing Steve Frame, Canary made the most of the material given to him, even though TPTB tried to recreate the Rachel/Steve/Alice triangle with two of the three characters being recasts. Had the show lured Jacqueline Courtney (Alice) back to the show earlier, the triangle probably would have worked with Canary playing Steve. One by one all of the great soap actors are passing on. With the exception of William Gray Espy (Mitch Blake), all of the leading men who acted with Victoria Wyndham's Rachel are gone: Douglas Watson (Mac), David Bailey (Russ), George Reinholt (Steve), Charles Keating (Carl), and now Canary. RIP Mr. Canary- you were one of the greats... Edited November 25, 201510 yr by watson71
November 25, 201510 yr Member Gonna miss this artist. Not actor, but artist. Some of the best artists I have seen came from daytime soaps. Bless his wonderful soul.
November 25, 201510 yr Member He also had a good physique for a man his age. I think it was Cameron Mathison who said that DC had even some of the younger men beat when it came to that department. Which is why his death probably comes as a shock to so many. Cameron and Mr. Canary were birthday buddies, something I've always remembered because I also share that day with them. I idolized the man, so many priceless memories. One of my earliest memories of DC on AMC was Stuart sneaking out of a secret passage and cracking a vase over Ellen's skull. She literally didn't know what hit her. Aww I didn't know they were birthday buds. That's awesome. That's my brothers birthday too even the same year as Cam.Anywho sorry to go OT. I really will miss DC alot. He was just larger than life and embodied Adam & Stuart to the point you are just in awe

I don't think I would want the 2015 AMC doing a tribute. All the people Adam interacted with would be long gone by now except for Erica, Tad and Dixie. I remember the Palmer tribute and they had that woman crashing the wake to talk about what a great dancer Palmer was. Did they even know each other, why was she there? I don't think I need to watch mystery people I am not familiar with discussing their retconned closeness with Adam. This is a a job for Youtube.

November 25, 201510 yr Member RIP to Mr. David Canary. I loved and enjoyed both of your characters. This past summer I watched all of the episodes on Youtube that Adam and Stuart was involved in in the late 80s and early to mid 90s. Storylines such as Laura's death, Cindy and Stuart getting married, Cindy's death, Brooke/Adam, Dixie/Adam, Hayley pointing the gun at Adam, Gloria/Adam, Who poisoned Adam, etc. The relationships he had with his children and the women he loved were complex and layered. In a way I wished we had a tribute episode to remember DC but we don't. Edited November 25, 201510 yr by sivad40
November 26, 201510 yr Member Tonja Walker 4 mins · I'm so sad to hear that we lost another wonderful person and magnificent actor, David Canary.I'll miss him as we all will. Edited November 26, 201510 yr by John
November 26, 201510 yr Member Wow, even James Fitzpatrick. How random. My opinion of ABC Daytime is so low I didn't even expect them to issue a statement. I'm glad they did.
November 26, 201510 yr Member He was such a great actor, as Adam and Stuart. I remember watching AMC as a kid and loving to hate Adam. Extraordinary actor. I was always floored by how well he played these two very different characters. RIP.
