Members Vee
Cross-posting my obnoxious thoughts: If Frank has any sanity left, he'll cut Franco and Nina tomorrow and beg Kimberly to come home. This has all got to end, but I bet he's still hoping to keep the Jason reveal til sweeps. Knowing him, I suspect he thinks Michelle Stafford has at least one more try to go, maybe Howarth too. It also seems like he's going to lean hard on Rebecca Budig, which is a bad mistake - it didn't save AMC when they tried to frontload her for years, not when the story was [!@#$%^&*] and she knew it. And this audience has no existing history with Hayden. She is not the new savior, but I'm sure Frank thinks she is. He goes in cycles with most of those big gets, eventually loses interest in them and then burns them. Part of that myopia and ADD was Ron, but it was a problem native to both him and Frank. This show cannot survive with more Franco, Nina, Kiki and New Star Rebecca Budig. Just banking on the mob won't prop them up either, we know this because Guza's numbers fell and fell and fell - after years of Sonny and Jason vs. the world, it was diminishing ratings. And this show is in far worse shape now than it was even then. I am amazed that they thought a murder mystery showcasing Franco, NuKiki, Nina, Denise and Madeline was the way to go. I mean, how long ago could they have started dreaming this up? Because supposedly the whole Who Killed Silas thing may have been a sudden rewrite, Ric may have been the victim originally - was that the only change? It doesn't matter which guy dies, this whole thing would be just as terrible. If it was a quick change, they had to already realize how bad the numbers were getting and how unpopular every single character in this storyline is. I can't believe they're letting a month go by with this. This is where you do a Gloria Monty and wipe the footage. Put everybody back on cocaine, bring Gloria's coke table back, work all night and crank hours of footage out til 3 AM through grueling, unconscionable slave labor like they made the poor actors do at Prospect Park! Members wingwalker
I totally agree, though they'll probably cite the fact all soaps except DAYS was down that week.
Members NothinButAttitude
But you know that ain't happening now that Jean holds the poison pen now too. She loves Roger Howarth, and we all saw that from how she over utilized him on ATWT. I can picture her dusting off her old Paul/Meg stories for Nina/Franco. Members Wendy
I predict a cancellation announcement by December. No joke.
Members victorlord75
I sure hope that this grim prediction of cancellation does not come to pass. I have a question, though. For all the ratings statistics that are out there, I wonder if we are witnessing one of the quickest ratings collapses in daytime history. I don't seem to remember ratings dive bombing like this for a show so quickly like it has for GH this summer. Sure, ratings might have gradually fallen with an unpopular story as it played out, but I don't recall ever seeing anything like this. No one could have predicted GH being close to cancellation in January of this year, but look where we are now. That isn't to say that the posters here don't have the right to say "I told you so", however. They've been calling it right for months now. Members Vee
If they don't get Kimberly McCullough back tomorrow, lock in Genie and end the dangling Jason, Robin, etc. stories - and instead choose to lean in hard on Rebecca Budig, Franco, Nina, etc. - I think it's near-guaranteed. Sonny and the mob ain't gonna cut it anymore either. Frank has the power to stop this but clearly the only thing he's not merciless about is his own ego. Members DRW50
He was overutilized at ATWT even before she was HW. I think it's more that he's seen as a "name" so he must be showcased at all times.
Members Vee
The directive for Howarth comes from above Jean. I think the only way we lose him is if Frank finally accepts the failure, or the network steps in. Which they've already built a precedent for doing.
