GH promo: Fluke has a mask!

Guza never wrote any stories. He can't even construct a story usually, and he and his dialogue writers were dreadfully consistent in their incompetence. Stories under Guza were actually anti-stories where nothing happened and two people share scenes where they discuss the state of their couplehood or recap what they said yesterday. There was never point A to point B in his stories and no plot progression ever. I can't even think what stories Carly starred in. I know she was pregnant a lot, I know Lorenzo liked her, but two characters liking each other is not a story. Neither is being pregnant. She was on every day for ten years and you got me what stories she appeared in. Same for Sonny and Jason.

RC presents a villain, they have a scheme, we have heroes, and then the plots unfold from point A to B to C until the story is over. It's a story, maybe not one anybody on this particular site likes, but a story nevertheless. The Luke thing is more of a story than anything Laura Wright or Steve Burton starred in under Guza. I think Guza's idea of a story for Carly was she was pregnant and read magazines.

What's wrong with plot? I will take all plot all the time vs years of Sonny or Alexis or Liz just sitting around in no energy, dull two person scenes discussing the current state of their coupledom. No talent Rick Hearst, No talent Ted King, constant discussing of Sonny by everyone in town, Carly and Courtney, years of Sam whispering and crying....give be rubber masks any day of that crap.

This trainwreck doesn't even feel like GH, at least with Guza, even though he was dark and had a hard on for all things Sonny/Jason/Carly, you felt like you were seeing GH. He kept most of the GH writers from previous regimes unlike Carlivati who fired everyone and brought in the worst of his OLTL crew

Thats bogus. Billy Warlock, Constance Towers, John Ingle...many actors came on GH and actually possessed even the slightest bit of charisma and TV presence, and consequently they shined. Nobody is more one dimensional than Helena, and yet she is fun. The fact that Rick Hearst and Ted King were as riveting as corpses in the morgue is entirely the byproduct of their own screen presence.

Guza proved you don't. He didn't tell one in 15 years.

I HATE Guza but I am sorry. He told stories. Stories I didn't like [and were one-sided] but he told him. At least his stories had a beginning, middle, and end. Ron's stories begin just fine, lose steam and meaning in the middle, and the ending is sh*t. No one takes away anything. No one tries to improve themselves. There's no growth. I haven't seen ONE character grow on this show since RC took over. Not in the slightest.

    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.
