Well CBS did have a huge week the week before and they are tracking very closely to year before. DAYS, wow down 434,000! That must've been during the Kristen/Eric tape reveal. As far as current week, at least they are stable. Will be interesting now that EJ, Sami and, top a small extent, Kristen are all gone if the audience sticks with the show - I think they will, but the better have some compelling stories.

And as for B&B they are probably sick of the Hope show…even though 2.7 for ever episode of the week isn't too bad. And Y&R still has a 3.5……GH is still at a 2.3 only…can't get to a 2.5 for the week.

GH is doing fabulous it's truly been a November to remember. Y and R still held steady though which was a big Victoria week. DAYS at least gets a bump but it concerns me why it hasn't risen enough. Next year is the big 50 it better have great promotion and stories for the big anniversary.

Poor days, it's the final slide but the management should be fired for the way they handled ejami exit and the ramp up of other stories. Very passively and poorly plotted. The new stories should have kicked into higher gear sooner. And the show is fairly good as an ensemble without ejami but Melanie and her new friend played by Melissa Archer are not going to undo the slide. I don't think

Raven u are so right they should have been better prepared for Samis exit it's so huge for the show. Melanie is far from this fan favorite they are hyping her I couldn't stand the character at all. Melissa Archer I am intrigued with but I hope she's more spitfire early Natalie days. DAYS still has until September 2016 and it's always made it. It was supposed to be cancelled in 2009 but it has kept going. They need a new head writing team going into the 50th.

To be fair though, MarDar lasted less than a year and there seemed to be a lot of interference. The problem is Corday would rather play golf than pay attention to his show. I also don't think it helps that the show has to cater to NBC, Sony and Corday. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

I also think Tomlin and Whitesell have been with the show head writing two and half years. Let's remember Tomlin exec produced the show for three years and Whitesell wrote the show for three years before. So Corday must trust them. Honestly they did save DAYS in 2009 by chopping the budget and bringing in ratings for the baby storyline. Honestly u think they need fresh blood but after MarDar disaster they rather not make a change.

Here's my question about DAYS: is the production model so economical that it's worth the show being unable to respond to audience feedback? I think the Valentni model is overrated but at least they can make changes when something isn't working. DAYS is down almost half a million viewers since last year. Having shows in the can 4-5 months in advance seems like it produces diminishing results.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
