It's ridiculous!

I guess they waited for MS to humble herself and return to the show, but when she went to GH, YR knew it was time to move forward. All MS will get at GH is airtime!

ETA: They are looking for a youthful looking actress, but the character may still be age appropriate, something that is not talked about at all on soaps.

She is in Michael/Lauren/Christine/Paul's age range and now they're casting someone even younger than Cady McClain lol. Perhaps in the end they'll find someone age-appropriate. I'm surprised they didn't seek out name actors in the casting call.

Yeah, if only they could find a 35-40 who looks as good as MS at 50+ with a body to match. Funny how they Y&R opening still has MS in it (every single day). I think the show would be better served by waiting until DT's Billy gets a direction and settles in. We know NuNuAdam is coming soon and, now, this. We knew all three characters were going to be recast, but the actors were immensely popular and all carried major storylines for years. Let the recast settle in one-by-one.

I've always found Robin Christopher to be such a cold actress. I hope they don't cast her. If she weren't taken, I'd say Kassie DePaiva. I'd want her to dye the hair, but I think she's the right age and she's a soap actor that still is willing to act and hasn't fallen into bad habits. I could see her putting in the work needed to pull off such a big recast. I'm kinda disappointed she's on DAYS because I feel they won't use her the way she should be used.

Oh JFP. Why not let the character be as old as she is? Lots of great, still attractive actresses in Stafford's age range that would love steady gig. Not just soap actors. Good talented people who don't get offered a lead as often because they have aged out of romantic comedy age.

On Twitter I've seen Sarah Brown, Kelly Menighan Hensley (Emily, ATWT) and Martha Byrne mentioned. I know she would NEVER get it, but I wouldn't be against Martha Byrne. I could see her giving us a more nuanced portrayal, similar to Sandra Nelson's version. She was also great on Crisis not long ago, so she's still got it.

I'm not a JFP hater, but she clearly does not like other women of a certain age! She discriminates worse than men. Before Jackie Z butchered her face, Jill said something not so kind about what the audience didn't want to see from a woman her age.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
