Y&R: May 2014 Discussion Thread

I was stretch to believe that some day on the Y&R someone would "out-giggle" CKLily… But well, it happened. LOL

Another pretty much all around bashed story is Jill & Colin around these quarters. There I'm in the minority of non-hatred, though. I think the writers are doing a decent job with Jill. I very much loved how Jill turned the tables on Colin. If they miraculously could work in Gloria into all of this and she would finally get payback from Jill for all those years previous regimes played Jill dumb to brighten up Mrs. Fisher Bardwell, I'd definitely sit through this with a huge smile on my face.

I like the way both Jill and Colin are written, but the story feels too isolated and it isn't going anywhere. They haven't given us any developments which is why it sucks IMO.

No debate on that; but as Jill has practically not been in character since 2005, I cherish what I get. Even if it's not the greatest story in the world.

And a boy can dream that the story will end up with Jill back in the business world where she belongs. :)

If Y&R would just focus on Jess & Tristan's natural chemistry things would improve for Colin & Jill.

The sweeps stunts & insistence on using them as fodder for Cane is what's really hindering them.

Tristan & Jess are actors who don't need crutches (unlike Stitch, Tyler or Kelly) to keep their stories relevant.

All they need to be successful is a business story & a fair amount of airtime.

I hate how Summer is making Jack feel guilty about Kelly.

And that doesn't take much. He's still a constant chatter box about his so-called epic romance with ol' red to anybody who will listen.

Hope the gloves come off between Gina Tognoni and Cady McClain, especially McClain whom has made Kelly a little whimpy lately.

I hate to be a naysayer and rain on folks dreams BUT they just don't do business stories like they use to on this show. The only business being done on this show is Lily as an event planner (because it gave her and Hilary reasons to interact) and Chelsea's fashion line having fashion shows (because again, it gives Lily reason to interact with Hilary). That's it. Victor has all kinds of personal conversations in his office. It's the place he goes to plan and orchestrate his many nefarious deeds. Jill might come out the owner and CEO of Chancellor Industries but she won't be shown working there. It will be a title in name only.

Business story and a fair amount of time is all any of these characters need to be successful.

Well it's just transparent that this is taking place because Phyllis might not be in a coma much longer… At least Summer is behaving slightly in character.

Even though the change in Kelly is jarring, Cady McClain screams classic romantic female lead. I think she's a really great addition to the show, although I'd like to see Kelly paired with someone other than Jack.

I wish that Kevin would leave with Chloe. This character has outlived his use. I like GR and think he is a good actor. But I fail to see why he is still on canvas at this point.

Well, there's always Victor. ;)

That would be OK with me because I love Jill in the Chancellor mansion set. It's one of the few sets that remind me I'm still watching Y&R. Besides, Kay conducted most of the Chancellor business from the mansion too. The only time they had a Chancellor Industries set was when Jill & Kay went into the office together as mother & daughter.

I think it's important for Jill to have the CEO title and ownership/control of CI because there are no independent, important, powerful, female characters left on this show. Now that Kay is gone only men control the business and wealth in GC. .Not everyone can relate to women like Nikki who are happy under Victor's thumb, or Avery, who used to be a top lawyer, who has given it up for cooking-IF it doesn't interfere with her relationship with Dylan. BARF!

I totally agree with this, and Jill was always supposed to be a player on the same level as Jack and Victor. This old bumper is proof of that:
