MICHAEL:

How did you play Nikki’s reaction to the content of the letter? How does she feel about it?

MELODY:

Uncertainty, shock, ambiguity, unwillingness, yet knows deep down that she should do what Katherine is suggesting. It’s a topic that Nikki probably felt would never be discussed, or dealt with in her lifetime.

MICHAEL:

When you found out what your upcoming story was going to be, what was your reaction? Were you pleased?

MELODY:

I love this story! Now, I don’t know how it’s all going to turn out, but the premise, the people I get to work with, and the writing, has been spectacular. That’s all you need; good actors performing a good script, and our fabulous new directing team, and I love them all. I have not been this happy at work in a while.

MICHAEL:

Nikki went to Paul at the end of the episode today for help! Would you say to your fans that you will be working with Doug Davidson (Paul) more often from this point on?

MELODY:

I have been working with Doug the last couple of weeks and enjoyed it, like I always do. So, I hope that the story keeps us together for a while

MICHAEL:

Jess Walton (Jill) has delivered some amazing performances, upon Jill learning of Katherine’s passing. Would you like to work more with Jess now?

MELODY:

I love working with Jess, and I adore her. I got on my knees and begged her to get her ass out of Oregon and move back down to Los Angeles, and delay this damn retirement, because I want to work with her! Now that Katherine is not physically on the canvas, the story just begs for Nikki and Jill to come together in some way in story. Katherine’s death in a strange way has brought Nikki and Jill together, because all they have done is snipe for years. But, there are some very poignant moments coming up where Jill and Nikki can almost laugh, like, “We have always hated each other, but I kind of like you right now, because we are all suffering together.” It was sweet, because Nikki and Jill have never been sweet to each other!

MICHAEL:

Melody, you have been the leading lady of Y&R for decades, and many times you have been back-burnered, which your fans have never understood. Should they feel confident that you will have plenty of screen time in the months ahead?

MELODY:

It’s a curious situation that I don’t know if we will ever know the answer. There has been a lot of ebbing. (Laughs) I have been working a lot, and you will see come September … “It’s Nikki month!” So, I guess I will have to get t-shirt saying that! (Laughs)

MICHAEL:

What do you think the fallout will be from the content of Nikki’s letter, when people on the canvas begin to find out what this is all about?

MELODY:

I would imagine Nikki’s story will affect a lot of people, including her family, because eventually they are going to have to find out what is going on. There is always a trickle down effect in soaps, where the whole town is affected by a situation.

This interview is bizarre...it's like they're talking in code and yet we all know (or suspect) what they are talking about is Dylan being Nikki's long lost son. MTS always gives a good interview though!

I always enjoy Melody's interviews especially her Tv Guide ones.....I hope this story is all it's cracked up to be.....I don't know if it's old news by now but i feel like this interview confirms that Griffiths is out too.

I believe she is basically retired. She agreed to come back to Y&R but didn't want a contract because she doesn't want to work that regularly. She likes her life out in Oregon apparently.

So...is the idea that Katherine knew that Nikki's son was alive, but waited until now to tell her? I sure hope not.

I'm not sure we know, but most of the speculation seems to be it will be Nikki's child with Jack. I agree that wouldn't make much sense, but given that Jack is going to lose Summer, I suspect that's where we are headed.

Jess Walton set up an apartment in LA just so she could work on Y&R. She also set up a new twitter account and communicates with fans on both facebook & twitter page on a regular basis. That doesn't sound like a woman who's retiring, or getting ready to retire. I thought Jess Walton was NB's blind item awhile back. He said someone on Y&R was available, and was open to working more, but Y&R wasn't taking advantage of it.

Why does MTS think JW needs to move back to LA to be a regular on the show? Steve Burton lives in TN and supposedly gets reduced work hours Tuesday noon thru Thursday night, and Sony pays for his travel back and forth, so I can't imagine JW in living in nearby Oregon (with an apartment in LA) could be a problem.

Jess Walton has wanted to work for years, but when that didn't happen she decided to move to Oregon and enjoy life. Now when they started featuring her more she set up an apartment in LA so she'd be available. If they want her, she's there. Besides, soaps can film in a way that can allow someone to live out of state. Karla Mosley is frontburner on B&B and lives in New York. Of course Steve Burton, the highest paid actor on the show according to Nelson Branco, has paid transportation to and from Nashville.

Steve Burton is the highest paid actor on the Y&R ? I would not even understand he being the highest paid on GH, but on Y&R? This can't be true!

According to the latest Soap Uncensored he is. Obviously with his soap history he won't come cheap, JFP ain't gonna play him. Throw in his heavy airtime and the fact that they're paying for his travel and I believe it adds up. He may not be the highest, but I'm sure he's in the Top 3.

I remember those episodes. Didn't Jack tell Nikki that he held their son (after he passed) and that he was perfect? Did the tiny baby start breathing again and no one bothered to tell Nikki or Jack?

Is it possible that the secret could be a baby of Nikki and Paul's from a long time ago, or Nikki's baby and Paul helped her put him/her up for adoption, or a baby Nikki had before she met Paul?

I hate all the speculation about the father of Nikki's child, because the Y&R people are using that to ignore the negative comments about this stupid story. They're saying "Who said it was Jack's child?! That's a rumor!" But they aren't responding to the fact that people just don't see the need to make Dylan the long lost son of Nikki, regardless of the father. It makes no sense and it's a stupid overdone plot twist. They had their chance to bring Steve Burton on as someone with legacy, but they wasted that. The smart thing now would be to pair him with a legacy character (like Sharon or Chloe, for example) and maybe down the road bring on a family member for him to interact with. Tying him to Nikki is just desperation to make the character work.

They recently mentioned Keemo during the Jack/Kyle/Summer stuff. It's time they brought him back since the show needs a man in that age range.
