Yep. She is the ONLY writer who successfully carried on the style of the show. And it's likely, since she started in 1974, that what we know as the Y&R style Kay Alden had something to do with since Bill had such a small writing team for decades. It only became the bloated monstrosity it is now in the last ten years.

A source tells Soaps In Depth that veteran soap writer Shelly Altman, a member of the current Y&R team, will move into the position. (Altman's previous positions include posts at ANOTHER WORLD, GENERAL HOSPITAL and ONE LIFE TO LIVE.) From what we hear, Altman's co-headwriter could either be former AS THE WORLD TURNS head scribe Jean Passanante or Tracy Thompson, another Y&R staff writer

LOL, Stephen Nichols is a major Y&R player? Since when? Most people would associate him with GH and/or Days before Y&R. However Jess Walton WAS a major #YR player for 25 years, she was pushed aside so Tucker could replace Jill w/Kay. What a disaster.

The show started circling the drain years before Ellen Davidson left. The dark days of killing off Brad, then Colleen, Adam gas-lighting Ashley, re-casting Tucker to replace Jill & Jess Walton instead of being her love interest , Lauren's doppelganger, etc etc. etc.

Jean Passanante? Oh god no. I don't remember ever really liking anything she's written as a HW. Even if she would be a 'Co-HW'. I hope they choose someone other than her. At least she's a rumored option only at this point.

Griffith's Y&R is so boring anytime I try and watch to get back into the show. It's not awful but nothing is really making me want to watch at this point. I was hoping for good writer news.

What are folks thoughts if they do move Altman into the position?

Jean Passanante would be unexpected. She has a history with Shelly Altman but I don't think she has ever worked with JFP.

I think Tracey Thomson is more likely.

I remember at one point Frons said in an interview that TT was one of the greatest talents ABC Daytime had in its stable of writers. But that's Frons.
