Members AllMyDaysatGH
I LOL'd so hard at David telling Pete "We don't have to be besties" Just hearing VI say the word "besties" OMG @ Colby: "The old JR would've scared the sh!t out of her by now, or pushed her off the balcony or something" DAMN JR: "Colby, I'm not that man anymore" Colby: "Well you need to be so find that inner ass-hole and embrace it cause Chandler is ours, not Brooke's" LMFAO I LOVE IT. I loved Pete mentioning how Colby never noticed how much fun he was back then. It was nice to get some direct mentions on how nerdy his character used to be. I really enjoyed Brooke Newton's debut and look forward to more! The Jesse/Uri scenes looked spectacular. Loved the camera work, especially the circle pan shot on Jesse. Nice! GET IT DEBBI. AJ/David scenes Loved the Babe mentions and David reminding AJ how scared of JR he used to be and how he kidnapped him more than once. Good stuff there. I'm really disappointed by the minimal use of Jane. Heather Roop is way too damn hot and charismatic for these little scraps!
Members EricMontreal22
No kidding--it's like someone simply forgot to press the center justified button when typing out the first line, and couldn't be bothered.
Members marceline
That [!@#$%^&*] drove me crazy when I saw it. All the PP BTS drama doesn't really faze me much but thoughtless crap like that makes me angry.
Members ~bl~
This wasn't done on an old school board...but on a computer so it is ridiculous. Glad it isn't just me.
Members Vee
Wednesday's show is damn good. That's the thing that really upsets me about the BTS drama - these shows are good. AMC in particular at the moment, though AMC and OLTL have been swapping out the lead off and on since they began airing. I can't imagine just putting all this work back on the shelf - or neutering it on ABCD.
Members EricMontreal22
Agreed on every single count. And I have faith, even with the writer swap, that now that writing, acting and directing wise they seem more and more confident that creatively the shows can and probably will only improve. It is frustrating--though I suppose .
Members marceline
I'm officially trying to wean myself from the BTS stuff because I would rather just enjoy what's happening on screen. This version of AMC, for all its glitches and problems, makes me feel the way I did when I was in high school and one of the reasons I used to look forward to summer break was because I could watch my soaps (SFT to AMC to Capitol to GL with some Loving, Generations and Y&R thrown in depending on the year. ) Regardless, if this all ends in two months so be it. I'm enormously grateful for what we got.
Members Vee
It's just plain good. They both are. Hell, if ABC wanted to partner up and run them at the 2 PM block (and move GH back to 3 when Katie dies) I could live with that. Provided the uncut versions of the show (no muting of profanity, etc.) run on Hulu, which is where I'd watch them, personallly. And provided they stayed out of the creative process and just distributed the show. They seem rather hands-off with GH. What's important to me is keeping the shows alive. I was at peace with them being gone because I figured they'd be back some way, someday, and I liked having the time free. But with them back now - and good - the idea of losing them both again hits me much harder now than it did then, because unlike before, they haven't spent years in the crosshairs of ABC Daytime and Disney, slowly being whittled away at by the toxic process. If the new-old soaps could somehow remain relatively independent this time, that I could live with.
Members greens_dupres
This. I feel like I'm in elementary school when I discovered soaps and thought they were the most awesome thing ever. They're fun again. How are you weaning yourself off the BTS stuff? I tell myself I'm going to do that and then I read every. single. thing. Agree with every point. I didn't mourn AMC much at all except on some nostalgic level because it was my grandmother's soap. OLTL was much sadder but like you, I thought they'd be back in some fashion. The thing that's killing me this time besides that I will miss them because they are really good is that I don't think they'll be back again if PP folds the project. Ok positivity from here on out. I'm even coming around into Pete/Celia's story since they've amped up the crazy factor. And now with Colby, I think it will be even more palatable. Members Vee
Any time Angie starts howling to God with a very personal speech, you've got an audience. That killed me, it always does. It would be a crime to lose this again. Great show, great location work. Wonderful Chandler family stuff, though this Colby comes off at least as drag queen as the last one if not moreso. If she can tone it down a little she could be very good. The story itself - with Colby trying to push J.R. to his lesser demons in order to get one over on Brooke - is excellent, and seeing everyone together in one room was great. I also loved the stuff with David, Pete and A.J.
Members KMan101
Wednesday's show was great. It flowed well. Interactions were spot on. It was a damn good episode. I think I'm going to enjoy Brooke Newton as Colby. It's pretty much how I'd have imagined Colby, a spoiled bitch in heels. They wasted no time pretty much showing us she means business. I'm already liking her interactions with Pete and I can't wait for her to get her hands on Celia. Speaking of Celia ... finally starting to come around to her. And to Pete. I liked their scenes together. Something clicked in New York and they're finally working. Francesca James looked nice, I feel like they always had her in black so it was nice seeing her with color. She looks great for her age. Julia Barr also looked good today, IMHO. Brooke was great putting Colby in her place. She's finally getting her groove back. I love the dynamics in the Chandler house. Every interaction is just so interesting and full of tension. JR/Colby didn't miss a beat, even with the new actors in the roles. The story itself seems promising. Nice seeing AJ/David interact some more. Same for Pete/David. Jesse/Uri were great today. Those scenes were directed well, and played well. I doubt Jesse's involvement with Uri will be anything but done. Even though 'the story' is Cassandra being taken by sex traffickers, it ultimately just leads to so many places they can take Angie and Jesse, good, bad and ugly. Oh, Jane's moment with AJ was sweet. I'm ready for them to do something with her. I'm OK with just plain old supporting characters but there's definitely something there I want to watch. I guess too it's because they haven't done much so the intrigue is kicking in more and more. Enough of my essay. I hope the BTS stuff works out. I avoid those threads, for many many reasons (well, I do lurk in them of course, LOL).
Members Jonathan
The Chandler storyline is really missing Adam. I'm having my doubts that he'll show up when .
Members marceline
I just realized that 90% of the sources for all this drama aren't trustworthy and I'm done letting them screw with my enjoyment of the show. Generally I enjoy BTS info on just about anything but I have to admit that when it comes to soaps the BTS stuff has permanently altered my perspective. For example, I'll never be able to watch anything written by Ron Carlivati because I "know" too much about how he views the audience and there are actors I've completely written off because of BTS stuff. I don't want to get to that point with PP. I don't want to know about every little tweet from the actors (even the ones I like) or every detail of PP vs. ABC vs. the union. I don't care what Jamey or Fairman or Logan or Bibel think because I don't trust their motives. If AMC doesn't survive the year, I at least got a few months of an AMC I loved, not tolerated, LOVED. Members EricMontreal22
Thoroughly agreed. I admit, I wish I knew far less BTS stuff in general. I *do* like genuine soap criticism--smaret stuff that is so hard to find abotu current and past eras but not about the drama of the people--and I also love knowing clear tidbits that we never get to know, like who wrote what, exactly, how much does Nixon consult, etc etc. But we never rally get facts about stuff like that--just very biased opinions, even from the pros who report based on opinion not facts.
