FX Canada drops AMC/OLTL!?!?!?

  • Member

On Friday May 17, both All My Children and One Life to Live were completely removed from the schedule and from FXC's website and replaced with re-runs of 30 Rock. This comes just one day after PP announced both shows are being cut to just two episodes per week. Fans here are not too happy. FX Canada was the ONLY place in Canada to watch the two soaps, as they are not available online here. No word yet from either FX Canada or PP.

I just dont get why they wont air them though. They could air both eps of AMC on Wed & Both of OLTL on Thursday

Because -- and this is just my guess -- that's not what they agreed to when they made the deal with PP. I've said before that it isn't exactly easy to program two shows that air on alternate days -- and that isn't including the "MORE" shows for both at the end of the week.

Or maybe early ratings weren't all that spectacular and FXC was looking for the first excuse to bail. Who knows?

That could be.

FX Canada agreed to four episodes/week for each show. IMO they believe PP has reneged on the contract, so I expect the next news we'll have is FX Canada suing them. That might restore the old schedule faster than anything else!

They probably want something to fill that hour most of the week, not two times a week.

Same.

No one knows what the contract said

If that happens, PP better get ready for fans to camp outside their offices in Century City with torches and pitchforks. Believe me, y'all have been yanked around enough. The LAST thing you want or need is another scheduling change so soon.

I doubt they will sue. I mean if PP had stopped prod altogether basically cancelling them they wouldnt sue. Or any network could sue when a syndicated show alters or ends prod

I don't think FXC will sue PP (or vice-versa) either. They tried this arrangement, it didn't work, and now they're available on iTunes Canada. Dem's da breaks.

If you were watching it solely on FX Canada as you saw a promo on television and have no idea of what is going on I can understand if when they aren't on next week that you'd get upset. Not everyone is reading forums or uses social media.

That's true, bl. Not everyone who watched AMC and/or OLTL on FXC might know of this change.

But they could always downgrade, couldn't they? Or is AT&T U-Verse the only cable provider that allows you to make changes to your package whenever you feel like it?

In some places in Canada, FX Canada is only available with an HD package. If someone already had the channel not a big deal, if someone already had HD, but not FX Canada less of a big deal as if they upgraded to get it they probably could cancel easily, if they had to add HD to get it they may be locked into a contract.

Yes cable companies change their schedules, but usually they advertise changes and they don't just pull things overnight.
