I'm embarrassed to say it but I'm only in S1 of Doctor Who. I know. I'm a nerd fraud. Forgive me.

Starting at the beginning makes sense. (although if you tell me you ship Doctor/Rose I may not be as nice ohmy.png )

I hope you'll share your thoughts eventually, and I hope you might get to watch some of the original show someday. If you ever want any episode recommendations let me know.

I admit I'm behind with Who--I've lost some faith in Moffat's run, despite enjoying much of the cast--I don't like the way he runs his overall story arcs. With less TV to watch this Summer I have planned on catching up, though--so many of my friends (who don't even seem like sci fi fans ;) ) now watch, that I feel out of the loop. Of course, despite having a childhood friend who was OBSESSED with Who (I remember his 11th birthday's main event was watching The Five Doctors or whatever it was called) and the fact that the theme music terrified me as a kid, I never really got into the old show and only know it from hours half watching with my friend and from all the details he endlessly told me--I only watched the reboot as soon as it aired because I loved Russell Davies' writing from Queer as Folk as well as his other work, notably TheSecond Coming which is where I knew Christopher Eccleston from. But I did quickly become a big fan. And I do think Moffat has written some of the very best standalone episodes--I can't fault him there.

And ummm this is on topic because many people have likewise lost faith in PP, if they ever even had it.... I suppose I should move this discussion if I want to avoid Toups' wrath.

You should at least try the Philip Hinchliffe episodes of the old show (Tom Baker's first three seasons), and the first season of stories, with the Doctor, Ian, Barbara, and Susan. Those were my favorite eras.

As for the new show, I'm still watching, but have little investment now. Too much attempt at being clever for the sake of being clever, incomprehensible mysteries, all while the wonder and sense of enjoyment have gone out the window, and the individual episodes feel very empty at times. The show has lost its heart. The only heart is with Madame Vastra and her group.

Anyway, I'm surprised TOLN are putting episodes on Youtube - I thought they wanted people to watch ads or pay to see them.

I had the same reaction but I'm guessing the sense its just the pilots. If you click on them, the caption then links you into the TOLN website to watch additional eps on Hulu with ads.So I guess its a way to get people to Hulu that can't find it?

According to Nelson Branco's SU issue 70

The soaps cost 80,000 an episode to produce. Actors are paid a weekly rate.

I understand the reason more now. 80,000 per episode is the cost and actors are paid weekly. Well they have been pulling 18 hr days plus that shhould make PP have to pay actors at least time and half on those days. So they are probably spending more than they thought. So the episode order was reduced and 2 days airing so the episodes stretch over a longer period of time. Giving the shows more time to find an audience

From the @AllMyChildren Facebook but also applies to @OneLifeToLive as well:

Hey When the demand grows for more episodes we have the ability to readjust quickly. The demand of episodes is measured by viewership of each episode. Hope this helps.
