Y&R: Jeanne Cooper has passed away

I hope it's ok to make a separate topic on this.

Wasn't sure how I would have to say these words so I opt for simplicity at least to begin...

My mother passed away this morning just a short time ago, peaceful with my sister by her side, in her sleep. I was going to visit this afternoon, thought I had time. Reminder to self - time is a precious thing. I too am at peace however. I said my goodbyes several times over during the last few weeks. I'll go one last time now for a gentle kiss a final farewell for this lifetime. She has been a blaze her entire life, that beacon, that boxer I spoke of earlier. She went the full twelve rounds and by unanimous decision... won! And while her light finally gave into the wind that gives flight to all our journeys, there will always be a glimmer left behind by what she stood for. I will speak about that more in coming days, months I suppose. I will certainly dedicate what remains of my life to continue her purpose of honesty, equality, humility, empathy and love. So many of you have said your prayers for her and right now, today, I can say the best way to honor her is to inhabit your lives with those things she stood for. I would ask that closer friends respectfully give us some time to find our family's path in this transition, and please limit calls, emails and the rest for a couple of days. As always, your outpouring of love here on this page, is not only welcomed to continue but truly appreciated and comforting. I asked my sister what time she passed exactly, and she told me (not to important for public record) but I was working out and just happened to pick out a song for my final moments on the treadmill - "Everlasting Light" by the Black Keys. Oh what a wonder it all is... what a magnificence!

I laugh each time Kate Linder comments, given that Jeanne wrote in her book that Kate once tried to pitch a story where Katherine was killed off and Esther inherits everything from her, LOL.

I attribute Jill's lack of screen time to Walton's availability and Cooper's illness. I expect Walton to continue to appear at least as frequently as she has been. If anything, Katherine's exit could give Jill Abbott a rebirth. She has ties to other characters besides Kay.

Is Jess Walton’s limited availability her choice? I have yet to see her state she doesn’t want to work very often, but many posters ( not you) seem to state it over and over as fact. (Especially on SOC & nobody seems to question this “fact”)

Under MAB she asked for a 6 month vacation because of a new addition to their family. When she returned under JFP she made statements that she was thrilled to be back and she planned on commuting to work for the foreseeable future. She said nothing about working less to spend more time with her grandchild or family. If she did someone please send me the link.

I don’t know JW but she always seems devoted to her character and the show. I have a hard time believing she would only want to work once or twice every couple of months. She knows that means NO story and that wouldn’t be fulfilling as an actress, or for the character of Jill.

Contract or not, characters can still do story arcs, heck TB/Lauren did it for years. I believe we don’t see Jill because Sony/JFP don’t want to pay the money for her to do a complete story. Heck, do we even know if JFP offered her a decent contract?

Back in September JFP said Jess had "agreed to return but not full time". I'm sure she was offered a contract.

Does anyone have the final scene between MTS and Jeanne on YouTube? It looks to have been in the hospital for her most recent story but I cannot find it.

Just curious but has Brenda Dickson given any comment on the passing of Jeanne Cooper? I know she had been ranting over a tell all book coming out soon or something as of late.

I have watched Y&R for 35 years and there will be a HUGE void with no Mrs. Chancellor to look forward to. I am heartbroken by Jeanne's death.

It will be interesting to see how they will address the death of the iconic lady onscreen. I wouldn't doubt JFP isn't having the crew dismantle the Chancellor set as we speak. I also wonder if Kate Linder will still have a job. I hope they do a royal send off to the Duchess with former cast members coming back to say their goodbyes. I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

If Nikki wasn't tied down to that albatross Victor, they could do a story where Kay left her part of the house to Nikki ( If Brock didn't want it) and have her move into the house with Jill.

Any opportunity to demonize JFP. Even in a thread like this. *sigh*

After viewing the scene with Nikki and Dr. Costner (Leigh J. McCloskey), I wouldn't mind if they would make his character a regular. I remember when he was on the show back in the 90's and they screwed things up by pairing him with Shari Shattuck's Ashley, then passed him over to Hope. They quickly wrote him out by having him leave with Hope back to the farm. Kurt also had history with Katherine (who took him in).

This is a message board where we discuss our thoughts and feelings about the show. I will say what ever, when ever I want.

I don't think anyone is demonizing Jill. They're just looking at her track record and it ain't pretty. Even you can't deny that.

And Lee Bell.

I read her book, or rather, tried to read her book, and it was all mindless drivel. It was all over the place! She needs to fire her editor as he/ she obviously gave her zero help.

"I AM SO SORRY TO ANNOUNCE THAT JEAN COOPER HAS PASSED AWAY . MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE. SHE IS WITH THE LORD NOW. MY CONDOLENCES TO HER FAMILY."
