Speaking as a single person myself, hopefully, both of these soaps are vested in more than just "couples" stories. There ARE other stories to tell. ABC's downfall was its obsession with the "supercouple" model. So many GOOD stories were forsaken in order to build the next Luke and Laura. I'm not saying coupling shouldn't be a part of the soap fabric, but dear GOD! Why is it that every single time a new character comes on, it's immediately pondered: "who is he/she gonna be paired with?" It speaks to the desperation everyone has to be a couple rather than embrace being single. From my perspective, while it would be lovely to be part of a couple, I'm glad I'm single. I've got a couple of soap bibles worth of drama to tell just from being single. I wish we could incorporate that. I hate the message of "single people's stories aren't worth telling," that soaps have been reduced to spreading.

What I'd like to see from the AMC 1.0 bootleg vault is footage from a steamy love scene between David and Maria, when the plan was to pair them in 2002. FH didn't leave in fall 2002 as TPTB had expected she would, so David and Anna were hastily reunited instead. According to VI, he was disheveled and rather embarrassed to face his good friend and NJ then-neighbor John Callahan afterward! The juicy tidbits you learn at fan events ...

I LOVE Francesca James so I am curious about the whole Evelyn story. If it's a big dramatic thing I can see her turning in some powerhouse performances.
