All My Children AMC: The Prospect Park Era (old production thread)

Sadly, I need more time than would be allowed to prepare my dialogue with Debbi Morgan about how unfortunate she is to have to have to carry out Ginger Smith and Prospect Park's plans to desecrate the First Black SuperCouple of Daytime, but I know how upset she already must feel about it. I do have several questions though to ask her, mainly about when Ryan and his Green Butterfly will be back to save this skeletal version of All My Children for season 2.

That's good about the Hulu ads- there really are a good amount of casual/lapsed fans out there who seem open to trying the show but just had no idea it was back

Well, since I probably won't stay up past 10 p.m. EST, for me you could ask how it feels to be such a major part of the reboot, what they think of the sex trafficking story, if they're pleased with the abortion angle and/or whether either of them would like Angie to sleep with David.

Do you mean you think the scripts are better than the overall stories? No, I wouldn't say that at this point.

Some of you have asked about my original soap series...

Yes, I have been working on it for some time now, with the participation of Linda Dano and Julia Barr. It's a soap dramady about three women who each have a mid-life crisis, whose lives suddenly and dramatically change in ways they never imagined would happen, and the creative and funny solutions they find and the friendships that grow from that journey. It's called "The Vindicated", because they do conquer their circumstances, it's sort of in the style of Desperate Housewives, and was cast entirely with actors from AMC.
We made a nice teaser and did some promoting, but we couldn't quite find the right formula for monetizing the project. The internet is an entirely new frontier, we are only now seeing certain projects finding ways to bring original programming to audiences online, which is why it's so exciting to be a part of this experiment with AMC. Although we did pitch the show to Andy Cohen at BRAVO, (2 days after hurricane Sandy!), and he arranged for me to meet the west coast head of original programming, we haven't yet gotten it off the ground.

I still love the project and think it would have a real audience, especially with the women who watch AMC, it's about them and for them, and I hope to get the chance to produce it someday.

Debbi and Darnell were great as usual. I just love them! Darnell was having some wine which makes me love him more Didn't I hear that one of the reasons Debbi decided to do AMC 2.0 was Ginger Smith?!?
