Wha? Sorry, this is a touchy issue and I don't mean to be disrespectful but even network TV (though I guess maybe not soaps?) say God Damn. I don't think Aggie would have a big issue with it.

You can swear on cable. There are weird regulations (largely dictated by the network.) Of course on premium HBO type cable, anything goes--but on basic cable like AMC (Mad Men), FX (American Horror Story) etc the s word is fine (as is basic non frontal nudity). I've heard they have to make special concessions for the f word which is seen as worse--Mad Men has featured it in maybe two episodes but they had to make odd concessions like not use the s word in the same episode, etc.

So in other words, I doubt we'll hear much worse than the S word in these online soaps, but I don't think most people (and this is not a judgement from myself) would be shocked to hear God damn.

I hve no doubt that that's exactly what they'll be doing (obviously that suits FX Canada--although Canadian network tv does allow more swearing and nudity after a certain time at night, but not daytime--I assume like the UK.) For all the hype about being edgier, I think PP are smart enough to know that if they went to HBO levels, too much of their audience would be turned off.

So much ofr my theory tongue.png Still, like I said Mad Men has used [!@#$%^&*] (but it was a big deal--and its uses were meant to standout.) Which is kinda funny cuz Mad Men, like Breaking Bad and Walking Dead are obviously all on AMC and AMC still airs their movies in old edited for TV versions with those words and very tame nudity usually blocked out (but that may just be because they show the old prints of the movies they have from before...)

Despite the rough start, I probably liked JL's Liza more than I ever liked Marcy Walker in the role. She had great chemistry with Tad. Very disappointed they went with Tad and Cara over Tad and Liza that last year. I agree that she and Jesse also had a nice vibe.

Agreed but I keep thinking about the OLTL clip with Tea dropping the F-bomb.

I can't imagine a basic cable situation where that would be allowed. IIRC, not even FX uses that word. (I'm thinking of American Horror Story. I consider that show to be the "bleeding edge" of basic cable.) I can think of numerous cable shows that have pushed the envelope in various ways but can't recall a case where the word f-u-c-k is allowed.

Mind you, I'm not trying to play censor. I just don't want these shows to lose opportunities.

    • I'm going to be so sad when she's written out or leaves. I know characters like this have an expiration date or just come and go often, but I really think she's been an incredible asset to this freshly launched soap. You would think she's been doing soaps for decades, she's a real pro.
    • Agree that this was a great week that brought some much-needed payoff to storylines that have been building for months. I'm just not sure about the comparison with Guza. I think if he were writing the show right now, the big sweeps event would be probably something like Daniel Goddard's Environmental Physics professor setting off a bomb at the Nurses' Ball and the rest of the cast getting caught in the carnage.

    • I don’t know either But having some random junkie extra be a part of John’s death, and Orpheus still being alive doesn’t feel right  I have no problem with the age gap, but I admit I do kind of side eye the high school element. I mean, when they hooked up 21 year old Casey Moss with 53 year old Kassie DePaiva, I had no problem, but this…

    • Trisha Mann-Grant is so so good. I can’t believe I’ve never seen her in something before.
    • When watching the clip of Michael returning I wonder if the announcer set a record for fastest "the role of..." I've never really connected to any of LLC's characters in her soap career, but I will give her credit for always knowing how to make a reaction and scene count. She did when Gio stormed out of the room, and her reaction to Michael returning and walking off with Miley, even in the background of a scene, was great.  (and how is today the day I just realized Lisa is married to Michael Patrick Jann, of The State fame).
