According to the census over 70% of the nation identifies themselves as being Christian, Catholic and other christian denominations. I'm not sure where you claim this nation no longer identifies with Christianity.

People stay getting worked up over the pre-emption of a god damn soap opera! For real y'all, I love you, but please take up a hobby. This ain't that serious. And you can hate all day, but the election of a new Pope is huge, global news. You can pretend it's not all day, and you have every right not to care, but just because you don't care doesn't mean it's not massive news.

Once again, it's not about the preemption of a soap opera. That happens. It's about the dogged, overly enthusiastic insistence about a new Pope in Rome being treated as programming-breaking international mega-news in America in 2013. I had to watch that [!@#$%^&*] all afternoon and part of the evening on major networks for days, and in a nation that no longer identifies as largely white and Christian I don't consider it worthy of that kind of coverage - and I find it offensive.

What does being white have to do with it? At his Christmas mass people of all races from all different nations are present. And Christianity is oen of the most popular religions in the nation!

And you didn't have to watch it. I'm sure your living in a place where various channels are available for viewing.

I didn't watch it, but it doesn't mean we don't have the right to not like the pre-emption either, and I'm sorry but if someone doesn't like that, then too darn bad.

There's a difference between dislike and rage and conspiracy theories being thrown out.

Eh, it's like one scene in one episode. It's not even going to be a big deal.

It's like 50% of his screentime thus far. He didn't even get to play with the vampires. But he gets to support Ellie.

People have every right to be annoyed at the preemption (I too was annoyed when I heard UNTIL I heard about the white smoke and then I couldn't reach my 6ABC app quickly enough) and I understand after yesterday's completely unnecessary preemption, people might be punchy.

But just because there are a large number of people who couldn't care less about who the new Papal Overlord is, that doesn't mean it's not still epically historic. The last Pope elected from outside of Europe was sometime in the TENTH century. You can rag on Christianity and on Catholicism all you want (and believe me, I do plenty of it myself) and I don't think half an hour of follow-up with a bunch of jerks on ABC News was necessary, but I'm sorry, cutting in was the right thing to do.

I missed Benedict's election and even if I was at home yawning through Kannie/Molly's book party or laughing at AJ, Carly, and Todd (in a good way, I assure you), I wouldn't have minded one bit missing it to see Pope Francis's first appearance. GH is on five days a week. While a Conclave might not be as rare as it used to be, it's still right up there with historic events.

It's got nothing to do with a conspiracy. I just think it's a lot of antiquated presumption foisted on the public by a lot of over the hill network producers and I thought the coverage was overblown morning, noon and night. Particularly after Benedict, what a creep. That's all. Don't like it, don't read it.

While I respect your opinion, the same could be said for you. Don't like it, don't watch the news coverage.

Folks, come on. ABC is not the Christian Broadcasting Network, and Luke & Laura are not Tammy Faye & Jim Bakker. Let's keep the religious debates on another thread.
