Soapnet's "50 years in 50 hours" GH marathon

Here's the first promo for it. And, it's a 50 anniversary promo too. Not sure if I should have put this here or Spoiler Island. But, there's not really many spoilers in the promo. But, move if so.

They had to have done great ratings for this!!!

maybe this will entice SOAPnet to start showing vintage eppy's from, the 70's and 80's

After what must have been a very successful marathon of classic episodes of ABC’s “General Hospital” this past weekend, SOAPnet has announced that it plans to re-run the marathon again this weekend beginning Friday, April 5 at 10:00 PM ET/PT and running through Monday, April 8 at 12:00 AM ET/PT (Sunday night/Monday morning).

Have they ever done that with AMC/OLTL/GH? (And no, I don't mean those once-in-a-while marathons that showcase a tenth of the 80s and half of the 00s.)

I wonder if that means the ratings were big enough to warrant this. That's huge. Id love it if they did an all weekend marathon of other soaps

For real! Too bad all that nonsense is going on between ABC and PP. They could have done a weekend marathon of AMC and OLTL on April 27-28 to help promote the new shows.

I don't think ABC would agree to do an OLTL marathon given the current situation - and I believe they have a large stake in SN, if I'm not mistaken.

I wish they would, though, for both AMC and OLTL.

Don't AMC and OLTL still air on SN or did they end that once PP announced they were moving forward with the revivals? If they are still being aired in reruns then I don't see why they can't go further in the vault for episodes

I'm not sure that snowstorm/birth of A.J. episode was Marland - I thought he was gone by the end of '79, wasn't he?

Pat Falken Smith was credited at the end of the episode. Except for the Ice Princess storyline and Luke & Laura's wedding/honeymoon episodes, all the episodes from 1979-1981 were from Smith's first head writing period on GH. Frisco & Felicia's 1986 wedding episode was during Smith's 2nd stint as head writer.

I don't think SOAPnet showed any episodes from Douglas Marland's time as head writer on GH.

Watching a few of these 1980 episodes and my stomach turned when Luke told Laura "you know how to say no." Why would they have a line like this, no matter what the context???

Jennifer Smith was such a sad character. I watched an episode on Youtube a few years ago where, to try to get her father out of his place so they could look for documents, Lesley threw a party for Jennifer, and Jennifer was like a little girl, happy and amazed that people cared so much about her. I'm sorry that they made her such a cartoon in later years.

I still am blown away by Denise Alexander's performance in the episode where Lesley delivers Monica's baby, and learns the truth. The way she plays Lesley's complete shock is something else.

These episodes reminds me of how much I miss Amy.
