Members Ben
The only E-Street article I have, and it's off its most famous story, Mr. Bad. I had no idea any Welsh soaps aired on any English language stations. I guess Pobol y Com didn't last long. Anyone know anything about this telenovela, Azul Tequila? No wonder this wasn't a hit, when they didn't even bother to add subtitles. No-one's going to stay with a show when they don't understand what everyone is saying! I wonder if this is the only telenovela to ever air in the UK?

Members DRW50
Thanks for all these, both of you. I have a hard time reading some of the print on the articles like Claire King, for some reason. I'm so happy to get to read more about shows like E Street, and The Archers. E Street always sounds like a fascinating trash show, something Australia doesn't seem to have now. I wish the article hadn't had the somewhat glib tone about the Welsh language barrier in pobol y cwm.
Members Ben
Australia doesn't make OTT shows any more; everything is quite serious or crime dramas. Any trashiness will be beaten out and transformed into crime and violence, a la Home & Away. Gone are the days of E Street, Number 96 and Sons & Daughters. Australian TV can produce gems, but in the last decade it feels like they've got into a rut and are struggling to make shows that aren't procedurals. Members DRW50
Alex and Steve looked too much alike. It's confusing. The story seems a little thin. I wonder if that's why Claire King left. Lady Tara seemed to be a popular recurring character with fans. That Heartbreak High guy is a real survivor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callan_Mulvey I've always thought that Rachel's exit was so bleak. Emmerdale does this too many times. In some ways it's a miracle they're still on.

Members Ben
I loved Lady Tara. I also loved that photoshoot; they don't do those kinds of shoots now - or any shoots in fact. I liked Rachel's exit at the time. But you are right, when Emmerdale hits on something that works, they rehash it again, and again, and again. It's what they've been doing ever since the Tates left, trying to recapture that magic with the Kings, then the Sinclairs, until they just gave up with the Maceys. Members DRW50
Claire King seemed to have a good sense of humor. Those last Kim stories sound a little worn. I sort of laughed about the people Paul Opacic roomed with because I think they were all gone within a year or two years (I had forgotten Sarah Sugden was still on the show at this point). I'm glad she's never gone back.
Members Ben
I'm going to be posting the entire (well, 95%) Susan/Karl/Izzy story from Neighbours. It is, I believe, one of their most iconic stories, and their first long running story that last 18 months! Izzy is probably one of the best characters they've ever created. Members DRW50
Thanks. I think Karl is a fantastic character - the actor seems to be able to do serious drama and silly fun, which is Neighbours in a nutshell. One of your articles isn't working. So does Mal only return when his parents are splitting apart?
Members Ben
I can see all of them, Carl. Have you tried reloading it? You're right - Karl does epitomise what Neighbours is all about. He's good with both serious and silly storylines. I think TPTB underestimated him from 2008-2012, when they had him on the backburner for quite a lot of the time, especially 2009-2011, but the show has always favoured Susan more, especially during the aforementioned era. Maybe that was a blessing in disguise, as Susan got kind of ruined during those years. Re: Mal - in a nutshell, yes!
Members DRW50
I did see it now, yes. So Karl has stories again now? I had to laugh at the last article, where the woman who played Izzy said, "we'll be in the moment and see what happens." It sounds like they were about to get busy oncamera.
